After months of debate and self-evaluation, I have figure out that I am in love with cheese. It is the most delicious thing ever! It is a versatile food, as well! You can have it with breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts! It's just THAT good! I am sitting here, eating pretzel thins with Merkt's brand cheese spread. It's the port wine flavored one. I know that there are people out there who say that "spread isn't real cheese!". All I have to say to them is POOEY! I don't care. It's delicious. I was lactose-intolerant as a kid, so I couldn't eat a whole lot of dairy. Up until a year ago, I couldn't drink a glass of milk without getting sick (I could have it on cereal, though). Cheese is awesome!
Does anyone else love cheese? :biggrin2:

I LOVE CHEESE!
Was just sitting here thinking that I should go downstairs and have some...
Stilton, Brie, Blue Cheese. Extra old Cheddar. bizarre old cheese that comes in red containers, La Vache qui Rite!

Also the antipasto bar...
Kelly, you would identify closely with Wallace and Gromit, I think!

Me too! I'm kind of picky about it though, there are a lot of cheeses that I really dislike. I do like cheddar, gouda, feta, asiago, romano, brie, mozzarella (especially the fresh kind), swiss, parmesan, havarti, monterey jack... Basically, all the basics in the US. I don't like blue cheese or raclette or any of those others, sadly. And I always have and always will hate cheese balls and fake cheese. BLEH.

I like mild cheddar, sharp cheddar on certain things, mozzarella, asiago, romano, parmesan, havarti, Muenster, Widmir brick, pepperjack, colby, colby-jack, provolone, and some "fake" cheeses. I like cheese spread, but only on preztels. Also, I only like Velveeta with noodle shells. Anything else with Velveeta is sick!

Our roommate, Sean, is a man who is passionate about his cheeses. He made me try a bit of feta and I spit it back out on him. That crap was nasty! He eats it for a snack. Bleh! Bleu cheese is absolutely disgusting. When I worked at the deli, I sampled a little bit of it, promptly spit it back out, then ran through the dish room, into the back, out into the store, and into the bathroom, where I furiously tried to scrub the taste from my tongue. That was the worst cheese. Ever.

I love cheese too! Its my favorite food. I'm very addicted to it.

IN november I had a blood allergy test done and it came out that I was allergic to all milks, all cheese:p, casein(milk protein) and eggs. I never realized how hard it would be to give up cheese/milk, its in EVERYTHING!!!

Even soy cheese has milk proteins in it!!!

I had been on the milk/cheese/egg free diet for 3 weeks before xmas hit. I gave up keeping the diet during the xmas week as it was just too hard and I didn't care. Jan 1st I started again and I miss cheese so much :(

It was my go to food whenever I was hungry. Grab a quick piece of cheese and a cracker and I was good to go. Now I'm having a hard time finding anything that doesn't contain cheese or some form of milk.

RIP cheese, I will miss you :(

Cheese might just be my favorite thing to eat. Ever.

I love the usuals, cheddar, swiss, provolone, meunster, mozzarella. I don't care so much for gouda, though. I take a mozzarella cheese stick as a snack to work every day. Every once in a while I will get those little Babybel cheeses, too.

A good cheddar might be the best thing ever. I like extra sharp, but usually get medium because it goes with everything. The last time I got a little extra on my paycheck, I splurged on a really nice Seaside Cheddar. Think it's English. Know it's delicious.

I do love feta. I could eat feta every day. So salty and chewy and delicious. I also *really* like goat cheese. Oh, how I love goat cheese. Mmmmm.

Oh, and I like bleu cheese. (A bit of Maytag Bleu stuffed into a burger, grilled, it's heaven.) And brie. And Havarti. And Dutch Parrano. And ricotta salata. And........ :)

I absolutely don't like "fake" cheese. To me, pasturized process cheese food does not cross my lips. Ick. I try not to criticize others for eating it, if you like it you should eat it. I just don't like it.

Many people who have a lactose intolerance apparently can put milk on sugary cereals or drink chocolate milk with little or no problems. Weird huh?

Yes, I love cheese in certain things/ways. I am a bagel nut. Not just any bagels tho..... the really good ones from a little jewish family owned bagel shop near my parents.... sesame seed with cream cheese is heaven.......

Tonight - after having been sick/nauseated all week with the stomach flu thing....... I had a craving..... I couldn't stand it any longer..... Nachos........

Itook tostidos, mexican Kraft shreaded cheese, medium salsa, olives, sour cream and hit the microwave.......... YUM!!!!!!!! that cheese melted just right and the other stuff just made my evening....... I'll regret it later.

I luuuurve cheese. The depths of my love has no bounds. My family is the same- my dad says my two siblings and I are probably keeping several small dairy farms in business by ourselves! My brother wrote a song about his cheese love and still sometimes does it at gigs to crack us up if there's a lot of family/friends there.

Sharp cheeses are the best. I highly recommend Gibbsville cheese, especially their sharp cheddar. It's a local company that is fantastic, best cheddar ever. Feta and blue cheese are great, especially in salads or sandwiches. Although I'll eat blue cheese on crackers any day. Mmmm. Goat cheese is awesome too!

My brother's wife's bridal shower was a wine and cheese thing. My brother was sad he wasn't allowed (it was a surprise, he was supposed to be busy elsewhere) but he got the leftovers anyway.

Oh, and Merkt's cheese spreads are awesome! There's another one- maybe Pine Ridge or something- that has a horseradish flavor that I actually really like despite not liking horseradish on anything else.

Good thing I live in Wisconsin!:hearts

Leave it to you Wisconsin people to start a thread/respond to it with deep affection about Cheese! ;);)

I love cheese too! Love sharp, aged cheddars (white, not orange), brie, freshly grated mozarella...yum.

I also *really* like goat cheese. Oh, how I love goat cheese. Mmmmm.

Goat cheese is one of my all-time favorites. And it's supposed to be the healthiest of cheeses too. Ever have it warmed, on a spinach salad? Double Mmmmm...

Right now I have some Irish cheese in the fridge, called "Dubliner". It's a hard white cheese, tangy but sweet at the same time. Pricey, but gooood.

Oh, and I almost forgot...cheese curds! Around here they ship them in from St. Albert, Quebec, and they are so hard to resist. They're chewy and a bit salty; and I never buy them because I'd wind up eating the entire package in one sitting. :biggrin2:

How could I have forgotten about the cheese curds! Delicious!

I have a funny story about goat cheese. Will and I went to the State Fair with my sister and brother-in-law. My brother-in-law, Mike, is used to eating "different" foods. His dad grew up in Puerto Rico and has different tastes. We were walking through the cheese area and Mike grabbed a big sample of goat cheese and ate it and was talking about how delicious it was. Will grabbed some too, thinking it was going to be great. Before I could tell him what it was, he threw it in his mouth and chewed like nuts! He didn't do the "sample bite", he just started chowing. A second or two later, his face turned a weird pale color and he was running around, frantically trying to find some place to spit the cheese out. He had already thrown out the napkin! :p

I love cheese too!

Stilton is my favourite. Hands down :D French Brie too.... YUM! Somerset Brie (comes from just down the road from me) is alright too but not as good as the French stuff...

I could eat fresh mozzarella until... The cows come home? :laughsmiley:

I like Cheddar too (actual place of Cheddar is about an hour away from Bristol. Cheese fact!) but only sliced thinly, otherwise I find it a bit too overpowering...

Mmmmmm, cheese.....

Nice bit of Wensleydale, Gromit? :p

Cheese is gorgeus! I have it at least once a day, I love cheeder mostly, mild, medium, mature, extra mature, I don't mind I'll eat it. I always make a sandwich with cheese, chicken, garlic and chilli and toast it in the George Foreman mmmmmm:cooking:

I also like edam, mozzarella, onion and chive cheese (so good on crackers). Everyone says edam smells like smelly socks lol but it's gorgeus. I love cheese spread as well, philedelphia (sp?) with garlic or chive is lovely. I also love cheese sticks an I'm the only one who'll eat the Cheese Puffs in the multipack of taytos in my family.

I am most defiantly a cheese addict!

Once, I got one of those "logs" of goat cheese, sliced it into rounds about a half inch thick. Coated with some sort of crumbs (can't remember off the top of my head, and too lazy to go look it up), then baked at a low heat until the coating was golden and crispy, and the cheese was hot and gooey. Earlier that day, I had roasted a couple red bell peppers, I processed those into a sauce and warmed it. Served the roasted bell pepper sauce over the baked goat cheese. Oh, I really need to make that again.

I also really like Broccoli and Goat Cheese Pizza. Blanch some small broccoli florets (really small ones), and use 4 oz of goat cheese crumbles. I also put on a handful of black olives. Just a sprinkling of Parmesan. I use a homemade crust, and some basil-y tomato sauce. Bake until hot. The goat cheese really makes that pizza delicious.

Right now in my fridge, I've got part of a wedge of Maytag bleu; a round of Purple Haze goat cheese (it's flavored with lavender, and it rocks my world!); a block of whole foods' generic medium cheddar; and a block of Feta that's made locally. It looks like my cheese reserves are a little low!

I also have a container of something called Lebanah. It's Feta cheese and cream cheese that's been blended with Mediterranean spices then garnished with chopped walnuts and packed in olive oil. Oh My Gosh, it is so good. If it didn't have a million calories, I would eat it daily. (Its also made locally!!)

Anyone tried haloumi? It is a white cheese from Cypress, and has a flavor and texture similar to Mozzarella (a little chewier and saltier). But it has a really high melting point, so it can be fried or grilled without losing it's shape. I like to toss it into a skillet until it has a golden crust on the outside. I was about to put that it goes nicely on salad, but in all actuallity, I usually just have a plate of Haloumi and put the salad on the side! It's a little pricey, so it's a special occasion thing for me.

This thread makes me SO hungry!

Oh, I forgot cheese curds....When I was growing up, there was a town that made some cheese not far away, and they did cheese curds which were available in some of my local grocery stores. I always loved those, and my mom would sometimes buy them as a treat and I would eat the whole bag!
I can't get them in Kansas City, even though it's only a 2 hour drive to Alma, where that cheese is made. Now, in my hometown, only one grocery store carries the cheese curds, and I try to pick some up each time I go home to visit.

This thread is too funny. We love cheese too! I especially like sheep's milk cheese, all different kinds but the feta is sublime. I make my own goats milk cheese from the milk from our goats - it's awesome.
