Would the smell of cooking spicy food be bad for him? I know they sell hot peppers mixed in bird food as a deterrent for squirrels, I was just wondering if the smell would cause any discomfort.

Cause as much as I love spicy stuff, I'll resign to getting it out of the house, if I need to.

And my other question- how long do buns just 'chill out'(napping, lounging, ect) before they get up and do stuff again? Is it normal for them to sleep a bit, get up and play/eat, lounge, play/eat, that kind of thing?

I'm just wondering since Meatloaf does this thing where he'll lounge on the towel for maybe an hour, get up, cause a ruckus, flop on his side, take a nap somewhere else, rinse and repeat... He's been doing this for some time, but I just wonder if he takes naps/lounges during the day because he's bored?

For that matter, is there a way to know if a bunny is bored? I mean, he's got a phonebook to shred, some wooden chew toys and stuff, but maybe he's tired of them? How do you tell?

Q-tip loves the smell of spicy stuff. It makes her do binkies.

As for the play/sleep/sleep more/play/sleep a lot more/flop/sleep more...that sounds like a pretty content bunny *glances over at the bunloaf asleep under my desk*...and pretty normal for a happy bun!

The only way I've been able to tell if Tippy was bored is if she starts getting into things she shouldn't. It rarely happens though if they have a lot of toys. And they're super easily distractable, so if she's bored and being destructive, all I have to do toss a toilet paper roll in front of her and voila....non bored bunny!

Need more Meatloaf pictures...he's sooo precious.

I agree with Q-tips mommy. The sleep/play/eat/poop thing, totally normal. Ellie lives in the kitchen and im not always in there to watch, but a lot of the time she is quiet and asleep, then I'll hear rattling of food bowls or scratching of litter boxes. Then all is quiet.

Foo never liked the smell of meat. Ellie doesn't like when there's a commotion in the kitchen. But once the smell or noise goes away Ellie comes back out. So once the smell goes away in your kitchen Meatloaf will come back. A lot of buns are like that, nothing to worry about!

Agnes also doesn't like the smell of meat. I cook spicy food sometimes too and I've never noticed a reaction there but any meat she detests :)

As Morgan and qtips mom said the play and lounging you are talking about is normal. Also, rabbits are most active at dusk and dawn. My two are lumps nearly all day until after dinner they get their spunk back.

Oh great! I'm glad he'll be fine... or at least it won't bother/hurt him. Thank you. :)

Glad Meatloaf is acting pretty normal, I just wasn't sure if he was lazing about because he was bored or not. Good to know!

And yes, I've taken a few pictures, now I've just got to make a bunny blog! I'll get on that soon. Been a bit busy lately.

Want to hear something really weird? My Tony can't stand the smell of bacon cooking! He thumps and hides and gets really upset. We have to close the door to his room or not cook bacon. Spicy food hasn't bothered mine, but we only let them into the living room-kitchen area every other day (having two bonded pairs, we alternate when each pair gets full run of the apartment), and sometimes they spend less time in the living room than others (the kitchen is tiled so they don't go there). I wonder if I can correlate the times they stay out of the living room with when I've been cooking something very pungent? I don't ever cook the kind of spicy that will make your eyes water or your throat sore, though.
