On Monday 8th September, at 11am, my redundancy will be made official!!

I will have no more cause to deal with those HORRIBLE EVIL people that I used to call 'colleagues', even 'friends':( and I won't ever have to go back to that place that has treated me so badly, that I worked so hard for 4 years at...

I will also be getting a fairly nice payout which should clear some debts and help me out with paying bills etc for a while until I can hopefully get back on my feet and find some sort of new job... (My only worry is that my student loans contributions might take a load of it :?)

I CAN'T WAIT!!! :biggrin2:

Tick.... tock..... :waiting:

Yeah, it did look like a couple of weeks ago that they were going to try and sack me beforehand due to my long abscence, but apparently they 'sought legal advice' and realised that would be horrendously dodgy to do, having already pretty much confirmed my redundancy- I sought advice too and found that they would be in breach of some employment laws lol- so they hurriedly corrected themselves and sent me an official letter!:p

I had to go and meet with my manager yesterday- it was her who told me about Human Resources seeking legal advice, and I'm sure they'd go postal if they knew she'd told me! But they wanted to be seen as being supportive as possible, so they tried to offer me another job to apply for- I told them that due to the way I've been treated by my colleagues I no longer had any interest in working there, even if I was well enough

Thanks!:D

How are you doing with your illness? You have labyrinthitis right? Is it something you will be able to recover from or something you will have to learn to cope with?

A bit of both really I think.... It's complicated but from what I can manage to understand the damage done to my inner ear that has ruined my balance is permenant and can't be reversed, but I can learn to live with it and 'compensate' for it, and supposedly eventually it wont bother me as much anymore....

I have noticed over the past year or so that it has eased up a bit, and I have more good days than bad days though, just that the bad days are... REALLY bad! :p A year ago, I was having to stay in bed until 3-4pm every day, unable to get up, but I can usually manage to get up by late morningish now unless I'm feeling really rough... :)

Yay, congrats, Jen! What a relief to have all that stress and stupidity gone. I'm so happy for you :pinkbouce: What are you doing to celebrate?

Thanks guys! :biggrin2:

Fran, oh yes it will! I get my redundancy 2 days into our holiday in Kefalonia supposedly, so I'll celebrate with an ouzo or 2 while I'm there! Apart from boots a new fridge is top of my shopping list lol.... how fun!

Shiloh, I'm not really celebrating, although Steve did take me out for food tonight, and we raised a glass :) Unfortunately the food was terrible lol... I think the real celebration will be having a good night's sleep without worrying about it anymore... And not having to ever speak to my evil manager ever again! I saw some colleagues whilst I was there briefly today, including one I worked really closely with up until I went sick, and she just looked straight past me... :?

Oh well! Goodbye Orange!! (see, I'm not afraid to say who I worked for now lol!)

If its any consolation I also hate Orange. They mucked me about so much at the beginning of my contract over the voucher I was supposed to receive.. I spent HOURS on the phone to them about it all. I share your hatred.. in a slightly different way.

Aaah, yeah that's a familiar story... I used to have to take escalations- when angry customers say 'put your manager on now!' and there were endless cases of people being lied to, mis-sold, etc etc.... I also used to work in Correspondence so if anyone has ever written an angry letter, they probably got a polite but firm response from me! I was hardly ever allowed to admit fault, or compensate etc, so I usually just had to do the 'I'm really sorry, but tough' kind of thing... So many customers out there hate me I'm sure! :p

But I would advise anyone to steer well clear of them! I moved to T-Mobile last year and they've been great! :)

Haha, I probably spoke to you! I was supposed to get a £50 topshop voucher with my phone, which was the only reason I went with Orange. They rang me a few days after saying they had 'run out' of vouchers and that they would instead credit me £50 to my account which I agreed to. I already had £100 credited to my account because they were running the promotion that you got £100... so technically my phone wasn't going to cost me anything for 6 months. Well.. I got the £100, but they gave it to my Mum instead (becasue the account overall was in her name even though they knew it was me) and I never got the £50...
