What colors would be possible with:

A black and white broken buck and a black doe.

A black and white broken buck and an Opal doe.

A black and white broken buck and a black and white broken doe.

all mini rex

Broken Black x Black = Broken & Solid Black

Broken Black x Opal= Broken & Solid Chestnut

Broken Black x Broken Black = Solid, Broken, and Charlie Black

These results may vary if the rabbits carry for any recessive genes (dilute, etc.)

I heard you never want to breed a broken to a broken. My aunt just won a rabbit at the raffle. And on the pedigree it haves both parents are both broken and the buck (she haves now) is a smitty, or whatever they are called. With white all over the black. And hes a Mini Rex!

Some people breed smutty solids to brokens in hopes of "hiding" the smut. And then the smutty color genetics get passed on- not a good cycle.

But breeding broken to broken will not inherantly give you smutty rabbits, if they have the genetics for correct color.

I haven't bred the broken doe yet as she is too young. i did bred my senior black doe. And I'm breeding the Opal for a friend.

What would be a way to get blues? my friend really wants a blue but we can't seem to find any around here.

You need to breed two dilute carriers together to get dilutes...it is a recessive gene.

If you bred the opal to a blue or a black carrying blue, you can get more blues.

We are hoping my broken black has blue in his backgroud. Idk I got him from some people who's daughter couldn't handle him but they don't remember who they got him from. so here's to hoping. I will keep everyone updated on what happens. btw what is a charlie black? I am hoping the two brokens will breed nice though. All the judges have told me my buck has perfect coloring and its really hard to find a broken with such even coloring, and with such vibrant colors. I'm happy. the broken female has really nice coloring as well. so knock on wood they'll be good but she wont be bred for at least another two months. I keep all mine inside year round.
