Cold!!!!!

It's getting cold! i know rabbits can withstand freezing cold temps, but how cold is too cold? my bunny lives in the basement where there is no heat, it can get pretty cold here in New England. will he be fine? would he even be fine playing in the snow? (when we get some lol)
BTW this is Andy's first winter!

How cold does it get in your basement? My two rabbits primarily live in our Kentucky basement, too, but even without direct heat or air conditioning, it never gets below 65 or above 75. I think it's pretty perfect for them.

As for snow, I let them out in it once, but they really didn't want any part of it.

I love the picture of your bunny. I have an 11 1/2 year old black mini rex and a 1 1/2 year old chocolate mini rex.

I have one rabbit who LOVES snow, but this is the same rabbit who got ileus the other week and we think (granted we really have no idea what caused it) it was due to the changing temperatures (it got down to about 50 in our room at night). That being said, where we are, the high is about 80-85 and the lows are about 35-40 overnight.

Aww thanks, I love mini Rexs.

Its in the high 60's low 70's (Fahrenheit)
Down in the basement at night its around the 40's-50's (also Fahrenheit)

Being indoors means their protected from the ice cold wind and getting wet so being cold is fine.
Many outdoor rabbits do just fine OUTSIDE well below freezing as long as they have an area they can snuggle up with straw and keep warm away from wind/drafts and stay totally dry. So indoors in the basement shouldn't pose any issue at all.
