One of Dories babies has a cloudy swirl in its pupil of its eye

Does anyone know exactly what it is and if we can treat it. The babys are picked up and checked every day and today is the first time we noticed it. The babies are 3 weeks old today. one of the others seems to have quite weepy eyes and the third one is fine all are healthy and happy eating wise nice and fat

Thanks

Sorry I can't be much help. Hopefully someone will come along and help you out more :).

Is it possible to get a picture of it? That might help as well.

I'm not sure, but I think it's not unusual for wee babies to get eye infections. I'll pm Tinysmom, maybe she knows what to do. My instinct would be to go to the vet with both of them, but she might know of a tried-and-true way to treat this at home if it is common.

I have had young babies get eye infections and I use terramycin eye ointment. I believe that Pam Nock said in a thread in the rabbitry recently that she just uses triple antibiotic cream.

However, I don't know what is available where you live - and I think it might be best to see a vet. I hate to suggest that as I know it costs money - but without seeing it - it is hard to really say for sure it is an infection - but that is what I'm leaning towards.

Hi, one of our kits had a cloudy patch on her eye from around 2 weeks. The vet prescribed eye drops to clear the gunkbut I can't remember what they were.It turned out in our case that the eyelid was not turning out as it should and the rubbing was causing the cloudiness. They ended up putting as smallself dissolving stitch in the upper eyelid. The eye is fine now with no further problems. If it is an eye infection they will prescribe something to clear it.

Hi Guys went to the vet this morning, the baby bun has a cataract on the lens. Vet reckons its visibility will not be so good out of that eye but the other eye is fine and she thinks the bun will live a perfectly normal life. I think my neighbour might want it as she is looking for a doe as a pet to partner her buck (who is already neutered) and i think she likes that one as she has a white spot on her eye that is a birthmark will wait and see the vet thinks it is a girl too so its 2 girls and 1 boy in that litter and 2 boys and 1girl in Squishys litter we can't tell what the opal is yet. I will try and post photos of them but i am very useless and will need husbands help!!

Thanks for the help i did look on the links and i thought it looked like a cataract but wanted the vet opinion. Even better there was no charge they will give baby bunnies a free mot not bad eh!! Other than the eye they are all fine
