so, winnie has been scratching her ears a ot, i looked into them, and it looks like it just has abuildup of wax, i am wondering if i could use a salin solution to flush her ears out, when herman had his ears infected, i used a medicated flush, i don't have any left, i would really like to give winnie some relief before i take her to the vet

anyone???

If your bunny is scratching the ears a lot, it may very well be ear mites and not wax build up. Ear mites resemble wax, as they look like a brown layer in the ear. A vet would look into the ears and tell you which out of the two it is within seconds. If it's ear mites you'll need to have the proper medication, it won't pass by itself and it's so irritating to the bunnies that they can scratch their ears till they bleed.

Use a rabbit ear mite medication (available OTC)which will kill the mites as well as dissolve the exude.

A saline flush would probably work just as good as anything if youre sure its not mites. As others mentioned, I would probably play it safe and treat for mites. Especially if shes been itching it, thats probably an indication that its more than wax..

i am planning on taking her to the vet, but i have to wait until tomorrow. as i work today, and i worked yesterday.

i just want to give her some reliefe. . . but trust me, she is going to go to the vet.

they don't seem over itchy, and it honestly looks like normal wax buildup.

i am going to flush her ears with saline today, and take her to the vet tomorrow morning.
