I am torn on the topic, I would hate to see all these people getrabbits, and as soon as the trend wears off they all get placed inrescues, or worse... BUT on the other hand, it may open up people tothe idea of rabbits as house pets, like the dog, and cat, and theywouldn't be stuck in cages...

So it's a tricky one...

:ponder:
I keep thinking that seeing as rabbits are such wonderful pets, most of the people who get them will love them forever.

I believe there's a thread on here somewhere asking how people firstgot into bunnies, and the vast majority said they had no idea they madesuch great pets until they ended up with one.

my friend has a bunny, and she dresses 'Sugar'up, and has a collar with "Sugar" on it. She also carries her bunaround in her purse sometimes. i think this is kinda mean, buti know she loves Sugar.

And one day this friend and i were in a pet store and she convinced meto hold this beautiful bunny who, she said, nobody would want cause thebunny was already old. i didn't want to, but just to appease my friendi did, and i just started to love that bunny sooooo much that she wenthome with me. and then it started, (the love of bunnies) All thanks tomy friend.

i have heard stories of people buying bunnies for their kids foreaster, then get tired/bored of the buns and let them into "the wild"(the suburbs). then these poor bunnies either starve, become prey toother animals, and even worse, get killed by cars. (i have seen quite afew bunnies run over in my neighbourhood)

So i don't think a bunny trend would be a good idea, trends don't last forever, and the bunnies would suffer for it.

Very True Nicky... buns are already 'celebrities'

Every year... Easter comes around... and usually two months afterthat... there are homeless, unwanted, unloved buns either roamingneighborhoods until they are hit by a car, eaten by predators orstarved... or end up in shelters. The lucky ones are in nokill shelters with EDUCATED staff. But more often then notthey are just put to sleep.

If you want an Easter bunny for a present... get a stuffed bun like I got every year! (Still have most of them =) )

Anyone remember Toyah ??? I rememer about 5-6years ago when I was watching a programme that she has a house bun
I was going to mention Toyah, as she is well known here for her love ofhouse rabbits. Ingrid Tarrant (wife of Chris tarrant who does 'WhoWants to be a Millionaire' in the UK) does a lot to promote and helpthe Rabbit Welfare Association in the UK. She has just written a bookcalled The Rabbit Whisperer, which gives info on keeping and lookingafter rabbits, and includes several celebrities that have rabbits(probably mainly known in the UK).

I think that celebrities that would carry rabbits around as accessorieswould do more harm than good. But celebrities like Kirsty Alley, AmySedaris and others have the right way of doing things. They make peopleaware of how precious they are, as well as their needs. And perhapspeople like us here on the Forum are the best Bunny Ambassors of all,by letting our family and friends Know how great rabbits are (even ifthey do think we are crazy ;))

Okay, what ifinstead of the 'purse' thing, Iusedthe example that celebrities would build mini-castles in theirexpansive back yards and serve nothing but the very best organicveggies to theirpet bunnies? ;)

The same happened after the Harry Potter films - people went out andbought owls.Once they realised that they weren't 'large parakeets' andneeded special care, hundreds ended up in wildlife rescues. They couldnever return to the wild, so are kept in rescues

I thinkby 'humanizing' them, it might give strength to 'FurLooks Better On Rabbits' campaign (or whatever that sloganis). Nobody wants to skin alittle'friend'.

I saw on TV today that Kirstie Alley has a bunny named Strawberry who is a
menengitis survivor. Her back legs are paralyzed, and she has a bit of head
tilt, but Kirstie said she's getting better. She was so cute! She had her in
a big blow-up pool in her bedroom, filled with sheets and pillows, so that she
didn't hurt herself if she feel down or walked into something. It was so
sweet!! Just thought I'd share.

I think a rabbit trend would be a good thing if,as lyndsy said, they weren't a "trend." If bunnies becamepopular, and celebs were deliberate about spreading the word on goodbunny care, then I'm all for it. But if the rabbit would justend up like Paris's poor puppy, in those stupid shoes, then I'll pass.

Paris Hilton has gotten rid of her dog. Tinkerbell got 'too big' (?!?!)

Here's the write up;

"The heiress Paris Hilton changes dogs like accessory. Paris’s dogTinkerbell has grown - nothing unusual till here - and she is no longera fashion accessory, because of that Hilton has reportedly dumpedTinkerbell.
As a matter of fact the British newspaper The Sun reveals the beautyhas sent the Chihuahua to live with her mother Kathy, becauseTinkerbell is being replace with Paris’s latest trifle, which is a newpooch named Bambi, who is much smaller than Tinkerbell. After all Bambiwill be more easy to be carried! At least until she will eventuallygrow.

So much for the tiny dog trend...
I do hope she doesn't decide to get a bunny...
