Californian
The Californian breed originated in California in the 1920's, created by crossing Himalayan, Standard Chinchilla and New Zealand white rabbits. The fur pattern has a white body and black nose, ears, feet and tail. The eyes are pink or red.
The Californian breed has an ideal adult weight of 8 to 10.5 pounds.
The similar Himalayan breed is smaller - 2.5-4.5 pounds - and has a cylindrical body shape.
NOTE: Similar "himalayan-type" markings can also be found in other breeds, so before you decide your bunny is a Californian, be sure to rule out the other possibilities - see the Key page UPRIGHT / NORMAL / PATTERN / HIMI for more options.
