Bunny spilling hay!

Hey you all! Just bought my bun some boredom wood chips below. I just went to a animal shelter and saw a bunny thing I have seen before with toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay. How do I know my toilet paper rolls doesn’t have chemicals? It would be a good addition to his upstairs for when he is chilling and wants some hay.

Our bunny Drake spills hay everywhere! We don’t use litter box bags. He digs his litter box a lot (yes I know what your thinking but he doesn’t have enough room in his hutch for a digging box). He has a bunch of spilled pieces now. View attachment 40822

A Hay Bin attached to the inside of his hutch will contain most of his hay. However, I have a real concern: You need to move that poor rabbit indoors as we modern rabbit ppl no longer hutch our Rabbits outside. Also, your rabbit hutch is placed in direct sunlight. Since rabbits start over heating and losing brain cells beginning in 80 degree temps, you must move his entire hutch to a full 'shade' area immediately. If you want him to enjoy sunshine, he can get some while exercising. Otherwise, rabbit hutches get extremely hot inside and your Rabbit will die from heat stroke. Make sure you freeze plastic water bottles to put inside his hutch so he can lay against them. And for goodness sake, I pray you don't have his tender feet on a wire floor. Believe me, the least of your worries right now is loose hay. Please protect him from heat stroke. Do it as soon as you read this. Once a rabbit begins heat stroke, it's almost impossible to save them. And it's a very painful death for the bunny. Domestic rabbits belong indoors with us. Get him neutered & let him live indoors.

After I got him it has never went a day over 80 degrees. I can’t bring Drake inside because my brother has allergies and my landlord won’t let us. He is not on a wire floor. He is neutered. Also, wood doesn’t conduct heat. I want to bring him inside but my parents say “bunnies smell”

I spoke to a rescue for bunnies about the cage and they said it was fine. Just a bit small so I am getting him a bigger cage.

There are people who do use hutches and cages. It doesn't mean that rabbits owners don't love and care for their bunny. I've seen people convert outdoor children play house it to a rabbit hutch and build inside multiple levels for their bunnies to explore. One of my friends did this for her ducks and chickens. My rabbit doesn't like hay racks. He prefers having the hay laying in a long box to forge out of. He also lays down in the hay and eats it before falling asleep. It is a less mess than a forging hanging box . And with the strands of hay that he doesn't eat he piles it up in the corner of the box and may eat it later.

Can someone help? My rabbit has a red bump on him for about a month that has been itchy. I just noticed it. Do I take him to a emergency vet? What do I do? Someone tell me!

No, it’s just a clump of fur and at the root is a red bump. I got a glance at it. He doesn’t appreciate when I look through his fur.

Yes. He eats and drinks well. On monday I have school and after art class. *sigh* My dad could take him but he doesn’t know a thing about rabbits. His yearly appointment is in a month...

Can someone recommend a cream or something because my parents won’t take him to the vet! They can take my dog to the vet but not my bunny ._.

Hun I just found your post here..since your rabbit is outside his red bunb could be a flea, mites, or maybe a tick bite?? I'm not a vet but have 3 bunnies myself. I think I have seen here on the website that you can put flea medication ( for cats) on your rabbits but you would need to get the right dosage from a vet based on weight. I want to find the ratio so I can put flea meds on my 3 buns. Also rabbits are naturally clean animals and bath themselves alot by licking the bottom of there paws and rubbing there face..or licking there backs and belly. If you want take a video of your rabbit even a 5 minute video..upload it to YouTube then post the link to your video below and maybe we can help you better. This is a great community and Jbun and Blue eyes helped me alot when my bunny had a fractured knee. She recovered without surgery..a little deformed but happy as she always had been.
