I have a 4 yr old rex shelter female at home who was spayed last Fri. and is doing well. Herneutered long -term male companion is at the shelter and due to a long story I am to bring her back today where they will be placed together unless overt problems develop. She has internal stitches and is healing well.
I know that an intact male can do great internal harm to a newly spayed female , however, I do not know if a neutered male can do anything with their genitalia that would harm a female who has been spayed

I am under pressure to get them back together as someone is interested in an adoption and although I personally think all of this is too soonI have little to say unless someone can tell me that the female will be harmed.

I , myself would never take the chance.

My neutered males still hump but I don't know what else they can do

Our vet recommended 2 weeks apart when we had Brindle and Benji spayed/neutered.
Bonding hadn't been going well so they were in separate cages anyway.

Is there any way they could go side-by-side in separate cages.

Im with you, I think its all a little too soon. That being said, if they were already bonded hopefully that means they still are. The danger isnt so much a male penetrating her, its the stress caused by humping and the damage that can cause. I think as long as you keep an eye on them and be sure he's not humping her it should be OK. But it would make me nervous. Any way you can just house them side by side?

I housed them in pens side by side because the woman who usually interferes with whatI feel should be done was busy with something else.

I did try to introduce the twoand she was fine but the male seemed slightly anxious ( she smelled different) and then tried to hump her which of course was what I was afraid of..so I immediately separated them side by side.

Now for the idiocy of tomorrow....

Someone is coming for a "date" with these 2 rabbits .People are driving 1 1/2 hrs with their female to see if they all get along.
of course it is too soon to do this but a non rabbit saavy person set it up.

I think the people who want to adopt have some knowledge and probably, hopefully will realize that they will not have a clue how these 3 will work out .
AnywayI put a sign on the female's pen stating that she needs to heal and should not be with other rabbits for at least 2 weeks.
I will not be there tomorrow and in some ways I'm glad as I think the people could have been told that the female was not ready for another week.

I lay in bed at night and worry about this stuff.

The shelter by us made us wait for two weeks after Tootsie's spay before we could bring her home.
The new vet at the shelter wants them to be well on their way to being healed.

Sending prayers and good thoughts that all goes well tomorrow.
