hey my bunny (Bunnard) poops and pees everywhere. I really don't know what to do. As soon as he gets out of his cage, he starts pooping and peeing everywhere in a corner right in front of the cage. When he is in his cage, he's usually pretty good with going in his box, but he poops a lot directly in front of his litter box. We've trying picking up his poop and urine soaked napkins and putting them back in his box but he just wont co operate. What should we do?

You're doing everything right...

I assume your bunny isn't neutered? How old is he?

He may be just marking his home as "it's mine"
Do you have any other rabbits?

Can you post a pic of his setup, or describe it?

(Good on you for getting my PM! LOL:) )

he is neutered, he's and he's 2 yrs old. The setup is he has his litter box with hay near the entrance to the cage with a vegetable bowl, pellet bowl, and water bowl surrounding his litter box with his toys on the other side of the cage. Thee problem is that whenever we let him out, he just poops everywhere, and specificly pees in this one corner. Should we get another litter box? Also, we use newspaper as his litter. Could that be the problem? Also, ho much freedom should we be giving him?

Have you tried putting a litter tray in the area ourside his cage that he goes to the toilet on?

Are you making sure you thoroughly clean those areas with something like a distilled vinegar solution?

What litter tray is it you use in his cage? Do you use anything on top of the newspaper like hay?

Do you have any other animals that spend time in the area outside of his cage that he poos everywhere in?

sorry for the questions, but welcome to the forum :)

Does he jump in the litter tray and then wee/poo right over the lower edge? I just wondered if that might account for some of the stray poos in his cage. I now use underbed storage trays as a litter tray because there is no way they can accidently go over the edge.

Maybe try putting a new litter tray where he goes outside the cage as a starting point and see if that helps with that aspect of it.

I do agree that you are doing all the right things that we suggest people do, now its just a case of little adjustments to make it all work for your bun :)
