Welcome and congrats on being able to soon adopt your first bun.
When I first adopted Emmet, I was living in a rather small apartment. Emmet is a 5 pound mutt bunny - no discernible breed. I built him as large a cage as I could manage and he also spent much of his day out and about. While the space I had was limited, it did take considerable effort to ensure that the area was bunny-proofed and safe for a cute, curious .. With the proper housing and supervision, Emmet was content despite our smaller living quarters. I've since moved out and am living in a much larger home. But, regardless of that, many bunnies can do well in an apartment setting.
Despite all that I just said, I don't think that every breed of rabbit would be okay in small living quarters. What is the size of your apartment? What would the set-up be for the bunny? Would there be time outside of the cage? All of these things are factors when determining what type of rabbit to adopt. I'd steer clear of a flemish (or any large breed) if you don't have the space for a large enough enclosure plus room for zoomies and binkies. I would also stay away from the full arch breeds such as the tan or english spot. In my experience, they require more room for running and activities. A smaller bunny would fare better. But, the most important thing to remember is that every bunny is different. A small breed will be easier to house, but you never know if they will require more space than a laid-back, large-breed bunny. In short, what matters most is not the size or breed of the rabbit, but what you can provide in terms of housing and enrichment.
Either way, keep coming around and keep us updated as far as what you decide to do. Good luck!
