Buffy is now 3 months old. For me, he is still tiny to be paralysed at this age. However, he is still eating and drinking like usual as well as urinating and pooping. He is also very active and curious. He will always want to move around and explore. I'veputhim and his brother (he is fit by the way)together in a cage. Is it ok? They have been getting along very well. Sometimes I see his brother licking his head and other times Buffy licking his brother.

Or should I seperate them?

Buffy have also shown movements with his left hindleg (which is the paralysed one). Sometimes when I hold him facing upwards to clean him up, he attempts to struggle off my hand before I put him into his box and thats when his leg will move upwards --towards himself. Now I am wondering if he is struggling because of pain or is he just plainly being playful because I have never heard him making screeching sounds or anything like that.

Earlier-- before I decided to post into this forum, I was cleaning Buffy up. And Isee thatthere was no fur behind his thighs and it looks a little redish. N when I stroke in between his legs to clean him up, the fur came off. I didn't dare to push his two legs apart to see because the left leg is stiff (eversince he showed movements)but I tried to take a look at the fur in between and I see lumps of fur. The fur looks like its peeling off when I gave a gentle pull.

I've been thinking if I should bring him to the vet. Especially with the crisis, I am thinking more than twice to bring him tomorrow. I'm so worried that its time that he will get the sores. If I do bring him to the vet, what sort of treatments will the doctor give for Buffy? N what are the things I should do for him? :(

How is he with his urine? Can he wee properly? It sort of sounds like a urine scald. It is worth having a vet check, but in the meantime you could use something like a smear of Sudocrem (which is a nappy rash cream) and should help the skin heal. I do think it's important that you have a good look around his leg and body to see the extent of what is going on.

I wonder if maybe there would be physio exercises you could do with him. If there is movement there then maybe it might be wrth doing gentle exercises with him.

In terms of being with his brother, that's an unknown really.

Bucks often tend to fight when they reach adolescence, and it will depend on the personalities of the buns as to whether or not they will not fight. It is good for him to have a friend, but you will have to watch carefully, and maybe look at different options as the buns mature and as their personalities change.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I don't think Sudocrem is available here but I will try get the cream of a different brand. As for his pee .... its normal. There were many times when I was holding him and his urine "shoots out" (sorry for the language). I dont know how to explain exactly but it seems normal. I have to syringe in water sometimes because there were times beforethat his urine looks very thick. THen I realise that he havent been drinking. N i realise that it was difficult for him to drink since he is still small.

I'm still thinking whether or not to bring him to the vet. I am not earning much on my own asI am still a full-time student. So to do the physio exercise, do I have to consult the doctor to teach me?

Anyway .... heres a close up picture of them together. Its really adorable.

How is he doing/?
I would take him to the vet for an initial exam if you can.
How did he get the injury. i may have missed your thread on that.
I think that he can stay with his brother until they both start to develop

atthat point behavior on both sides may change and you may need to separate them to keep him safe.

Buffy is doing great to me. The only thing thats worrying me is the fur thats coming off. The skin seems so delicate to me. I dont want him to hurt himself when he is hunting around. I am definitely finding a time to bring him to the vet and that is tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Oh ... i did post a thread about Buffy's fall. He fell when he was with my little sister and I wasnt home. Its really sad that I was not there to take care of him.

They are very cute together. I would worry though, that when puberty hits these two, there may be fighting which Buffy just is too fragile to handle. Personally, I'd probably keep them together until I started to see any behavior I didn't like, and hope I could catch it in time. However I don't know just how fragile Buffy is. As for the urine scald, you probably want to treat that with some kind of ointment, like baby diaper creme. A vet visit could be helpful, especially to get ideas of exercises like Flashy said. Have you talked to TreasuredFriend? She has at least one disabled bun that I know she has looked into some massage and holistic therapy for.

Just because I fostered a paralyzed bunny with severe sores related to her lack of movement and inability to keep herself clean, I would recommend going to the vet earlier to see if you can get any start up of problems dealt with before it becomes serious.

Can you get a picture of the area at all?

Yea they really are cute together. What you said was right. Just today I saw strange behaviour between them. Coco was nudging on Buffy aggressively twice and I quickly took Buffy away. Thankfully, he was not injured or hurt. I'm glad I saw that. Temporarily I had to shift Buffy in a big enough pail while my dad get him a proper space thats not too high for him to look out. Or maybe we shall use Mummy's cage while mummy get a new big one.

I did got the diaper cream. After I dry him up, I will smear the cream around his butt area. But wat if he licks it? I did try to hold him for a while till the cream sorts of dry off.

I could see the first pic the best

you are dealing with a lot .....:(

You can use diaper rash creme but not if you think she might eat it;

try it for a day and watch

you could wrap a small towel loosely around her so that it would be harder for her to reach the creme

I did use it on a bunny that was too sick to bother to eat it
you can also use neosporin or bag balm
the bag balm will be messy but it is soothing.

I have done it for days actually and it seems great. It doesn't make his butt look that bad. The pictures u saw are just rite after I wash his butt. What did you do to make sure that ur bunny didnt roll over? I tried placing towels around him but he bites it and push it away all the time. I think its his too young age. When I put tissue in between his legs ... he will bite n pull it out.

Bag balm works good, you can get it at the drug store.
