Don't have time to right much, trying to find out how much infant gas meds to give him. How much do I give?

Hard tummy, little poop, didn't "freak" for a craisin, didn't drink as much water as normal, didn't finish all his pellets within 10 minutes like usual....5 hours since feeding time and he still has about 1/8 cup (from 1/2 cup) of pellets in his dish.

He ate the craisin and oats I gave him.....but I ran out and got infant gas meds just a few minutes ago.

I should have caught this earlier....but just noticed he was "off" when he didn't freak for a craisin.

I usually give a dropper and a half full. You can't really over dose on it, so I usually give a dropper and a half - two droppers full just to make sure I get enough in them (*since they aren't bigdropper fans, sometimes more goes on their face than in their tummies!). It works like a charm for gas, really makes a difference!

If he's still pooping, that's a good sign even if they are a bit small. How is he with hay? My guys seem to like hay a lot better if it's a bit wet, so maybe try spraying it with a bit of water?

He must not be feeling too bad if he semi- passes the treat test :). He may be just having an 'off night'. Does he seem lethargic at all? How is he otherwise, still his normal self?

Maybe let him out for a good run around? Will help hisdigestion and will help with any gas he might have! It may be the very beginning of stasis or just gas, you definitely caught it very early!

What does he weigh? Probably around one full CC every hour for three hours. And tummy massages.

Biggest question: How is his output? Are his poops normal? He's peeing okay?

sas :?

You can also try adding vanilla to his water or make a light mint tea mixture or something.....

Nemo is a gassy rabbit. He would be a floating blimp if I let him be! He gets some vanilla extract in the water bottle everyday and he gets frequent tummy rubs during the day if I hear any bubbling happening inside of him.

I am sure Brody will be fine -- this is fairly common with Nemo too. Although...I do think Nemo just gets grumpy. I swear my little guy is bipolar sometimes!

Good luck <3 I know you'll get him through this Amy!!!

For the record, I do believe Pedialyte has to be given to them straight, and if you're putting anything in the water, always make sure they have plain water as well. Many of my guys will shun water with vanilla, tea, mint or even the wrong kind of juice, so it may backfire if you have a fussy or unadventurous bunny.

Hope he's feeling better!

My baby seems just fine right now. I gave him the infant gas meds last night and he took them right from the syringe, like a good boy.

I let him out to run around and he normally poops ALL OVER....to the point where I have to pull out the shop vac. He popped only a few times then.

He ate his huge pile of hay that I gave him last night too.

I am going to give him one more dose of the infant gas meds, just to be safe. I went to work 3 hours ago and just got home now...I still have to check on him, but I wanted to update you guys.

Thank you for all the info...I tried to "research" last night, but was too much in a hurry to read through articles.

I gave Brody a small plate of 1 slice of cucumber, 1 slice of red bell pepper, and 1 baby carrot. He ate all of it, but still isn't eating his pellets like he usually does.

I am still worried. I am going to go give him another dose of the infant gas meds. I gave him his last dose at 4:00pm my time.

There are poops in his box and in his cage, but I can't tell if it's a normal amount or not...I keep debating, but my mind is playing tricks, thinking the amount is not normal...but it very well could be the normal amount. Did that make sense, lol?

I didn't know peppers and cucumber caused gas. I thought it was broccoli, mostly? That doesn't make sence. I've given Brody peppers and cucumber before and he has been fine.

:?

Id stick with easy veggies like romaine, parsely, carrot tops. If he's even got a little hint of gas or an upset tummy something like peppers or cucumber could throw him off.

Is he eating hay? It cant hurt to keep with the simethicone.

How does his belly feel? Its not distended is it?

I didn't have a clue cucumbers and peppers were "gassy foods" :?.

He is eating hay, but not like he normally does. His pellets are all gone. He isn't drinking a huge dog bowl full of water like he normally does every day either.

His stomach doesn't feel hard to me either anymore.

What should I do now? I have canned pumpkin...will that do anything? Do I put my corn heating pad in the microwave and heat that up and put it on his tummy while Ryan and I watch a movie? He HATES being held and breathes heavy when he is lightly "bunny burrito'ed"....will it stress him out and cause more problems if I try that?

I have been letting him out to run around the bedroom, too....so see if it helps any.

What are things that I can do that won't stress him out?

Alicia told me to mention this:

The weather here has been cold (winter jacket and bundling up) and then yesterday and today it was t-shirt, shorts, and sandals weather.

This could be throwing him off? The other two bunno's are fine.

You can give him those things but not when he's having issues and I only give them the tiniest bite when I do give it. Even Clover gets gassy from cucumber. She can eat almost anything.

Mine get a little bit of brocolli leaves only and never peppers. Brussle Sprouts is another gassy one.

If you think about it, those things usually will cause you to burp after you eat them (yum I had cucumber on a salad today!)

As he gets older he might be a bit more sensitive too. Bo got more so.

Hrm, I'm just confused. I've always given him peppers and cucumbers before...and never had any issues.

I also don't burp after peppers and cucumbers....I ate a bunch earlier too?

Ah well...I am going to go sit down in a bit and watch a movie with the heating pad on Brody's tummy...to see if it helps.

Sorry to hear about Brody, poor little dude, how is he at the moment?

I eat an entire cucumber a day almost, and love peppers (are we talking about capsicum - bell peppers?) and haven't ever gotten gas or burpin from those either, or heard of that at all? My bunnies eat pepper and cucumber a couple times a week these days and are fine with it. Maybe some bunnies and people have senstive tummies to that stuff though.

Hopefully Brody is ok
