Hi everyone,

hoping someone could maybe try and share advice. Our bonded bunnies of 3 years have started to act a little weird today.

Everytime our male bunny gets close to Daisy our female bunny she darts quickly away. It's been happening all day. He isn't chasing, it's just she seems scared of him. There is nothing showing a fight or anything. her poops are slightly smaller than normal. She has been eating. They can sit in peace around a metre apart however if he moves slightly she will dart away. Any advice would be helpful as I'm worried they may fight through the night.

thanks

Matt

Maybe your male nipped her or something like that and since then she is scared of him, don’t worry though it’s normal for buns to fall out so I would recommend separating them and then starting the bonding process all over again but it won’t take as long as they were previously bonded, I know it probably sounds like a pain 😂 lol some initial rabbit bonding can take months! Let me know if you need any help bonding them again I’m here to help :)

Are they both fixed?

It is possible that she is feeling 'off' and that is making her grumpy. The smaller poos might mean that she is uncomfortable. See if she is eating her usual amount of her usual diet. Sometimes my rabbit isn't quite in GI, still eating, but eating a little less and with less enthusiasm. Some gas drops seem to perk him up.

Keep an extra eye on her for any indication of something else that could be bothering her (slight runny eyes or nose, excess shedding, etc).

I'd suspect she just isn't feeling well and that can make her not want to be 'bothered' by her mate. I don't think you need to separate them, but definitely keep an extra close eye (and be within hearing distance at nighttime) until she's back to herself again.
