hi guys you guys are real helpful!

what bedding kind you use? im heard that pine is bad for bunnies but some people say its not is this true? i use aspin for my bunny

thnxs! :bunnydance:

I use old towels or blankets as bedding for my rabbit. She uses her litter box 100% of the time so the towels/blankets are just for her to lay on.

Hiphop, is your rabbit indoors or outside? Litter box trained?

If indoors and litter trained, you don't have to use bedding in the cage.

I use Carefresh in the LITTER, but no bedding - they're happy with the floor.

I use megazorb as my litter. I started using it a couple of weeks ago and I'm very impressed, it holds odors really well so I don't have to use much. I'm not even an 8th way through the big sack I bought!;)

As SM said indoor bunnies don't need bedding like outdoor rabbits do,however you could lay down newspaper just to ease cleaning and give him something soft to lie on like vet bed or another type of fleecy blanket.:)

as my bunnies live out all year i use barley straw to keep them warm in winter and as they are out in runs most of the time and have got sort of litter trays in their runs, which Daisy always uses and Dandy does when she feels like other wise she makes a neat heap, but i don't put any litter in it as they just poo straight into it and as there are holes in the bottom their wee jsut seaps through onto the mud!

thxvm guys

my bunny poops alot in his litter but he also poops and pees in bedding too. he doesnt have one spot he poops and pees, it all over. how can i stop this?

I've just sucessfully litter trained Snuffles who came to me w/ bedding and nolitter pan in his cage. I removed the bedding, put in a litter pan. Since he was used to going anywhere in the cage, I would just clean up after him by putting the poo in the litter pan and when he peed outside the pan, wipe it up w/ a paper towel and place it in the litter. That is what was suggested to me from the wonderful folks on here and it works wonders! Just keep cleaning up after them and by putting it all in the litter pan, they soon get the idea. Hope this helps. :bunnydance:

Oh, and you can place another litter pan in the cage and watch if maybe there's a couple of places he (?) goes and just move the pan to that spot. :D

great adivse that sounds like a great way of getting bunies to sue a litter tray. do you think this would work with any age bunny?

Thanks! Well, a bun that is really set in his or her ways, maybe not, if they haven't had a litter pan and say it's over 5 years old, but, hey, you can always try, try, try. :D

Snuffles is only 3, he's great with the litter pan now, I mean, great! The only thing I wipe up when I clean the cage is hay and lots of hair right now cuz he's moulting!

my 2 buns are jsut over 3 so they should be able to learn this! they do sort of use a litter tray otu in the runs but only because they usually go in the same corner so ive put a tray there and they do use it msot of the time but now they are in at night they dont really have trays any more. Dandy just poos in her under run and Daisy seems to stopped pooingthe days she is in and over nigh withjsut a few poos so she sjut goes when she is let out whcih im not sure is a good thing!

I'm sure your buns will pick up on litter training really well, I didn't litter train mine until they were about 2 or 3 but I'm so glad I did. Cleaning is soo much easier!:DNowthey are so good they will even go in their litter trays when they are out in their run whereas they used to just go on the grass.

i don't know my bunny age, we think he is around 5 tho. i got him from someone giving way free bunny, they had to move but no litter box or nothing.

thanks guys i will try this!

Is he spayed/neutered? That helps a lot with litter training.

I've also found that if you keep up with cleaning and clean up accidents with plain white vinegar, it helps a lot. The vinegar takes off the scent. Another good idea is to put a little soiled litter in the litter box to give the bun the idea, and to put the litter box (or multiple) in the places the rabbit uses the most. Also, put hay in the litter box or in a rack above the litter box. Rabbits like to eat and poop.;)

Three of my four buns are pretty good with litter training. The one that isn't is the only one I had as a baby.:rollseyesOne that is good had a litter box before (but from what I gather his cage wasn't much larger than that anyway), and the other two were 1.5years old and had only ever seen wire floors. They trained pretty quickly.

No not at all, some people don't bother litter training outside rabbits because they don't see the point but it makes cleaning their hutch so much easier, faster and helps keep a cleaner environment for you rabbit in general. Litter train them just as you would any rabbit and I'm sure they'll soon pick up in it. With my two I found they always went in the back corner of the hutch that is on the far side (not next to the door to the bed area) as in most standard hutches so I just put a litter tray in that spot, filled it with hay and they took to it right away!:D

im def going to try it, were planning on making all new indoor hutches so it will be great, having 33 bunnys anything that saves time is great.
most of the outdoor buns are pretty good if they have a run on there hutch they will go the toilet in it,
