Tomorrow should be filmed as a comedy drama.
Beau (Mr. dental patient)has an appointment with the dentist in Verona Wi and my belabored and unwilling husband is driving us.

It is 95 degrees here and we have to take our 2 dogs with us . Because of that we will not be able to leave them in the car and go anywhere while Beau is getting his teeth done.
That will give Jim and I about 3/4 of the day to sit in the car and fight about how much money I spend on the pets.

I should be worrying about beau but instead I am worrying about how much this is going to cost..last yr. was about $1200

Please pray for all of us to get through the day with out a murder or rabbit death.

thanks..I really shouldn't be bad-mouthing him on -line.

heheheh that's okay. It's very nice of him to that for you even if he's not happy about it. Some times I have to wonder though, how can you not be a rabbit person? :ponder:

What are they doing toBeau's teeth?

once agian good luckk,

-TK

Oh my...

Yes, please, take ALL of my luck!!!
I gather that this is not your idea of a dream vacation!?!?

Oh, I hope everything goes ok, men seem to moan about everything! Mine does, he does'nt like my buns or guinea pigs, saying that though I have caught him actually kissing Hope when I'm not looking! :)

Forgive me for asking but who is Beau?

Beau is my 4 yr old holland lop who has severe dental problems.

He had 5 molars removed last year and his peg teeth grow out like a handlebar mustache.

There is no vet here who can do rabbit teeth so we have to drive a couple hundred miles when I can afford it to a great animal dentist near Madison Wi.

Tomorrow is the big day..we have to be there by 9AM so it is anearly trip.

What happens when you say "I do!" His sweetest husband of the yearVote isteetering. (SRR newsletter photographers will be over...) Take the digital. I want to see this magnificent man holding Beau, the dogs, orgetting Kissed !!!

- Drive safe,

Is there a topic here on Veterinary Pet Insurance? Everone should know about this. Costs $12/month to insure a rab without prior conditions. Not sure what it costs if prior conditions exist but you can inquire.

Hi... we're back in one piece.
Beau had his cheek teeth filed down and the incisors and peg teeth were also filed ..1 infected cheek tooth was extracted. it was a lot of traveling for him but he did eat after he got home a mix of pumpkin, wet pellets and pineapple juice

he is kind of dopey from the anesthesia but otherwise I think that he's fine. He's going back on ciprofloxicin and has metacam for the next few days.
IT WAS HALF THE COST OF THE LAST VISIT !!!!! which was just under $500.00 but since I was expecting much more I am happy with this
The heat was not as bad as I thought it would be so Jim and I and the 2 dogs hung outby the shade trees in the parking lot of the vet office.
I think that we looked like transients :D

Anyway the day was not a disaster... I finally got beau back there and we are safely home.
Now I hope tomorrow goes as well for Cara and Sherry

Yay, that's great news! It's awesome that he's eating. Mmm, pumpkin.

Bunman, as I understand it they don't cover prior conditions at all.

Maureen, just in case of future need does the vet dentist accept Care Credit? That way you can pay in installment with no interest if you need to in the future. Although the way this is going, Beau might be a toothless bun.:?

I don't know if they accept it or not but I doubt it as they say at the desk that payment for services is required at the the time of the appt. (Great big sign)

Anyway we're in the parking lot and these 2 young guys were doing construction on the bldg and one of them finally said ..."aren't you going to take those 2 dogs in ?

Then I start explaining where I traveled from and that I have a rabbit in there. and he said .."which doctor? " and I said "Dr Gengler" and he says "Why did you come so far?" and I said "because he's the only one that can do this!..................................

then he says "he's my dad"

I am REALLY lucky that I REALLY like this dentist as he is extremely knowledgeable about rabbit teeth because I could have easily started ripping on the doctor and then ended up embarrassed !!!
I am usual;ly complaining about vets but not this one.
We don't have to go back for awhile
I'm so glad that this is over

Actually the opposing molars of the teeth that were pulled last fall had to be trimmed because they had grown up on one side but they were not poking into his cheek like last fall (I'll never get over finding out that he was living with teeth poking into his cheek without knowing it)

Oh Im so happy everything went ok and you got out of there with a smaller (albiet still very large) bill. I know just how you feel though. Im always holding my breath when we go to see the vet dentist.

Beau's lucky to have such a loving mommy (and daddy, even if he wont admit hes doing it for the buns ;)).

Oh, and re: Bunmans suggestion aboud VPI. I have it and its great but they dont cover any sort of preexisting condition. Its crap because Max was "diagnosed" with allergies before all this abscess stuff so they wont pay for anything nasal related. Even a head xray was denied because it was of the mouth and nasal passage.
