I was out of work for sometime and now that I'm working I'm only averaging 15 hours a week.I've been on many interviews. I thought I had another part-time job but it seems they can't get their act together. I'm tired of waiting. They are not even calling me or email me in response to my calls and emails.

I'm at the point now that I am filing for Bankruptcy. I've tried to make payment arrangements with my creditors. Some have been understand and willing to work with me. Now I have at least one debt collector calling me on cell phone and home phone almost every day. They want all that owe them now. There is no room for negotiation. I'm not trying to avoid paying my debt but there has some flexibility amd understanding.

I just want to know if anyone here has gone through this and what their experience has been.

I'm sorry, I have no experience, but I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that things are so tough for you right now. I hope that you can get this sorted and ease the stress on yourself.

My dad filed bankruptcy before we moved last month. Luckily none of the creditors showed up at court, so he didn't have to give anything back.

He tried everything to avoid that route, but it was either that or be homeless. Hopefully he's learned his lesson, as this is the second time he's filed. :expressionless

It sort of depends on the type of creditor they are. If they cannot negotiate, ask them would they prefer you file for bankruptcy? and tell them that they are the only creditor causing you to consider it.

I hope you find a solution. If things aren't looking any better - maybe that is the best idea.

Tell the debt collector to stop calling you and all future communication is to be in writing. Follow that up with a letter stating the same. By law, they have to stop calling you once you do that. In the letter, inform them that if they are not willing to work with you, that the only alternative is bankruptcy.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. It's sad that so many people these days are in this type of situation.

I senta certified letter yesterday. Hopefully that will help. (I spent money I really didn't need to spend but no choice).

Bankruptcy right now is my only course of action. As I said I'm working part-time, although I am actively looking for additional work. I need relief. I've considering bankruptcy for the last six months. It is not an easy decision but the debt is overwhelming me and I see no other way out.

Thanks for information. I know I am not the only one dealing with this but when it is your mess it just feels like you are alone.

Boy, do I know what you mean. We had to move here to Canada to start over, completely fresh. We didn't even have any furniture when we moved, as we'd had all our things in storage, and couldn't pay the bill...and had been living in a motel for seven months. We finally wound up with no money and no work, and had to find somewhere else to start fresh...somewhere that wasn't have the economical problems CA was having.

Just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one out there...and I know how you're feeling. It's so hard...and yes, you do feel very alone when it happens.

Thanks Rosie. If I knew where I could getfresh start I would go there. But I feel like I would be running away from my problems.I already moved here because I couldn't get ahead where I was. Also my parentsand siblings are in the same state. Hopefully things will open up.

I sure hope so...and soon. I'm so sad to hear that so many people are having such huge problems right now. I hope things clear up soon...
