We have actually sat some weekends and watched the dog shows, so you bet I'd love to see the rabbit shows-definitely. You just don't get to see rabbits on tv, ever, so it would be nice for them to take some spotlight in something like this:D.

I think a short, maybe like 15-30 minute tv show about rabbit showing might be interesting to the average viewer. But rabbit showing isn't as fun to watch becauses (except for in a few breeds), the rabbits don't move at all when being shown!! That's not too much fun for non-rabbit people, lol!!

Now don't get me wrong, I routinely stand in front of a judge all day and don't get bored, but I know the animals, the breeds, etc!!!

The one thing I would be afraid of, if a rabbit show is televised to a huge audience, would be people misunderstanding what is going on. Rabbits are kept in pretty small cages during shows and extremeist animal rights people might try to show up at shows and let the rabbits loose, like what is happening in the dog show world. Could you imagine what a horrible thing that would be?! Especially at the National Convention where there might be 25,000 rabbits entered!!

But I would love to see a special on tv about rabbits, the breeds, what it means to be a good breeder, the basics of showing and even pet care. The most I've ever seen rabbits mentioned on tv is a few minutes here or there. Nothing substantial.

Meant to add, that I am going to be at this years convention though. If anyone is able to make it, we should meet up and you can come play with my Fuzzy Lops and Checkered Giant! :biggrin2:

I think that short educational show would do the world good. :)

I never even thought of people setting rabbits free at shows. That'd be awful.

Local TV and cable companies oftenfilm rabbit shows. I've been filmed and interviewed a few times.

I think that Cavies (guinea pigs) are usually with rabbits for shows here.

Cavies are sanctioned at the ARBA Convention and also at many rabbit shows (but not all). The show has to apply for a separate cavy sanction so may not get one if cavies are not popular in their area.
