I'm trying to figure out how to start this - but I'm curious mainly if I'm the only office product junkie around.
When Art goes to the store and wants to buy something as a treat to surprise me - he might buy me a candy bar or soda - but if he wants to spend a bit more and really surprise me - he'll come home with some new pens - or a notebook - or some sort of office type product...'cause he knows I'll love it.
I'd say I come from a long line of office product junkies but that's not true. However, I think I've created a line of office product junkies - Art loves getting a new notebook and pens ... Robin and Eric are the same way.
Wanna see us all explode with joy? Put us in a shopping center that has a good bookstore - a toy store - and an office product store. We'll probably blow our budget and spend almost the same amount in each store - and odds are good - its the office product stuff that we'll open first and play with on the way home. (Always gotta try out that new pen).
In 2003 - Art was gone over our anniversary (he'd been in Afghanistan for 3 months) and on his way home he was in that huge airport in London - and he saw a special store for pens - fountain pens, etc. He was looking and looking and looking at pens for quite a bit and finally the clerk said, "You're buying for someone else...aren't you?" He admitted that he was - and he wound up getting me a gorgeous pen and pencil set for our anniversary - that was his gift to me after his three months of being away from home. Oh...and a notebook from Dubai when he spent 10 days there...cause the notebooks were so interesting compared to ours.
See how bad I am?
Last week I was working in Dollar General. On the 90% off table in the clearance section - they had a bunch of journals. Normally $3 each - they were now .30 each. Of course I had to buy all 7 journals (I really liked them) @ .30 each...to have on hand...because I do love to journal. So what if I have a bunch of journals at home waiting to be used....and I DID not buy the additional journal that no longer had the plastic wrap on it... Of course - if I hadn't liked these journals - I would have passed them by.
I think the funniest story though is when we walked into an office supply store and Art walked me into the paper aisle. He handed me a bunch of index cards - well - really - he put them up near my nose and said, "Here...get a fix... smell this."
We didn't see the employee in the aisle who started giggling and walked away.
Anyway - just looking to see if anyone else is bad like I am...and what your favorite items are.
Meanwhile...I have to go organize my journals and notebooks, etc. and make a list of them - to carry in my wallet - to pull out whenever I am tempted to buy some new notebooks. It will say something like...."I already have XXX blank notebooks, XYZ blank journals, and ABC pens. I don't need more."
I wonder if it will work...
:biggrin2:
