Are you thinking of Zork? I used to LOOOOOVE Zork games!

Oh thanks, now I won't be getting any sleep tonight! :biggrin2:
Here's a link to the place I downloaded the games: http://if.illuminion.de/infocom.html

I don't think that is all of them, but it covers quite a few.
To play them, you'll need to get an emulator that can read the games, I use WinFrotz, but there are a few different ones available, all free!

Wishbringer!!! That was the name of it. We had gauntlet, Wishbringing, Lemmings and a few others, but those were the three that i played. I thought i'd like Myst, it just never happened. . .
Sorry some of you, i'm going to bet the most of us that know these games are 25+ years old. I know I'm 25, that computer, our first one was given to us by my uncle, he's a computer programmer so he constantly got new computers.

Sadly, I missed out on the graphical DOS games discussed here. Games in my house jumped from DOS text-based Interactive Fiction, to Sega Genesis, to Windows-based games.

I hear Sega Genesis and I think Sonic the Hedgehog. My lil bro used to make me watch that show with him because we couldn't have a sega, we had NES and Super NES systems

Holy Mackerel, Beth... That's quite a leap!
I've never played a text-based DOS game before,.. any suggestions on some easy ones to start with?

Wishbringer was the first one I played, and I think it was designed to be a more introductory game. That one, and the Zork games are more magic/fantasy themed. There are some sci-fi titles, too, I haven't played those so I can't comment on the difficulty of those. Hollywood Hijinks is a sort of pulp comedy/mystery/detective story, and is easier. Plundered Hearts is also fairly easy, and is sort of a pulp romance/mystery.

The text games are good for anyone who likes problem solving and critical thinking.

Before the text games, I did have a Frogger rip-off on the Commodore 64. LOL.
