Some people had bred Jersey Woolies into the Lionhead lines. It's not exactly known how the dominant mane gene and the recessivewool gene would interact and if the dominant mane gene can overide thewooled gene and cause the body wool to molt, or if the longer body woolis just an effect of the double mane gene.

I never even heard of people breeding JWs with LHs. What would be the point?

That's pretty tiny. The narrower head and slightly biggerears are not unusal for Netherland Dwarfs that are not linebred. Line breeding and the heterozygous inheritance of thedominant dwarfing gene set that classic show type with the well roundedhead and tiny ears. It is a sable point (which is a siamesesable with the non-extension gene giving the body a creamy appearance).

As for crossing in the Jersey Woolys to the Lions -- many people didn'tunderstand the genetics and thought they could make more Lions withthat cross.

Cinn wouldn't be a purebred Jersey Wooly because they won't molt out into a short coat like she didn.

Pam

Both LHs and JWs are cross angora. Ijust don't understand why one would want to combine two breeds that areso similar. :?

The maned gene and the angora gene are verydifferent and the Lions and Jersey Woolies also haveverydifferent wool texture. Some people mistakenly thought thatthey could save money and create their own Lion lines by using JerseyWoolies. The two breeds arealso verydifferent in type.

okay.. so then now we know shes a mix between thetwo... which is fine.. because they both are sooo cute! LOL! do youthink shes full grown now? how big do they get.. when i found thatthing on Eip. i was act. looking up Lionheads to learn more aboutthem.. and i also did the same with Jersey Woolies.. but the schoolbanned soooo many sites! it sucks! lol
