I just can't win right now. Now Anissahas Diarrhea. Just came home from work and foundit. She was a mess. I cleaned her up and gave haveher a bunch of oats and hay. What else should I do?I know she could dehydrate really fast, so I'm going to get somepedialyte. I think she must have stressed because I cleanedher cage or something. Delilah has been with her from day 1and is fine.

Hi Jen,

Oats (optional) and hay. Take out the pellets. Be sure to givePedialyte and NutriCal. How much does she weigh? No treats at all untilshe gets 'her form' back.

If anyone can handle this, it's you. After what you've been through with Abby, you bet yer sweet bippy you can win, Lady!

Keep us posted on the little one, and I'll say a prayer.

So sorry to hear about this! :(

Anything recent in her diet that might have caused it? New treat or veggie maybe?

Well, you know the routine now. Limit the pellets, lots of hay, extraoats, force liquids if necessary, keep a close eye on her, and get herto the vet if she takes a turn or doesn't improve.

Keep us updated!!

Prayers and good thoughts sent your way!!

Whoops...forgot Nutri-cal!!!

I absolutely cannot believe this! I'm so frustrated!

I just made her take some water with an electrolyte additive mixedin. She took about 25 cc with no problems. Mybiggest problem right now is that I'm afraid to take all the pelletsout because I don't want Delilah to get bound up and I'm afraid toseparate them in case they won't come back together.

Oh, I'm so tired...I can't take too many more nights of staying up syringe feeding rabbits!

Jen

I kinda know how you feel. I have to feed a babysquirrel every 2 hours, his last feeding is at midnight. Then I have toget up at 8, and warming him up takes about an hour, then Ifeed him. But at least I don't have to get up in the night. :?

I'm so sorry for you. :(

She had 1 darn crasin, could that little really cause this?My other thought is that I ran the shop vac in my room last night, shewas really scared. Maybe I freaked her out. Whoknows? At this point, I've decided I just have to roll withit. Poor girl had only had a couple of litter box missesuntil today.

Do you have another cage? If so, putthe two cages next to each other and they should be fine. Ihave two does that are together but one goes to the fairs and the otherdoesn't. Usually have no problems putting them backtogether.

Sounds like you have everything under control.....LOTS OF LIQUIDS!

Thoughts are with you and Anissa.

Hmmm...I'm working on figuring out thecaging. I'm going to get them separated, I'm just not exactlysure how. I don't want to put either of them in any of theextra cages I have becauseI think they are too small for aflemmie. I'll have to throw together another NIC condo.

I put in a call to my vet. He said to keep doing as I am andbring her in Monday if she's still having troubles or hit the emergencyvet if she gets worse.

Would Gatorade be as effective as pedialyte?

Rainbows!

From what I read one time....gatorade isn't as good as pedialytebecause it has additional sugars that pedialyte doesn't have....and youdon't want those.

But I don't remember now where I read it.

Jen...you're in my thoughts and prayers - you've sure had a rough week!

LOL They are trying to throw it all at me, just to make sure I can handle any future emergencies they throw my way.

I didn't even mention that Orion gave me a scare the othernight. During playtime, he got himself wedged behind Daisy'scage. My cages are all NIC condos and are all attached, soit's a very heavy unit, I had to tear Daisy's cage apart to get thelittle brat out. He was barely breathing when I got him out,but he quickly got up and ran.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if she might have aURI. I was just syringing her some pedialyte, I'm a littleparanoid right now, and she started sneezing. Now, my optionsare that I got some pedialyte in her nose, which is completelypossible; it's nothing and I'm paranoid; or she has a URI. Myvet isn't in again until Monday and getting to him requires a 2 hr carride, which I'm not sure she needs right now. I havetetracycline and a little liquid batryl, can I give her either of those?

Jen

I'm blaming the heat on the recent rabbittroubles. Rabbits going off feed/hay, developing stasis, heatstroke/stress, and dehydration. I am hoping and praying thatAnissa will be alright.

Has she been near anything moldy or dusty? Are you gettingclose to the bottom of a bag of rabbit feed - pellet fines can make arabbit sneeze. Dusty hay? I hope she doesn't havean infection.

I'm trying to think about the dustthing. Her pellets are kept in a container and I did finishthat a couple of days ago, but I don't think she would still besneezing from that. I'm going to watch her for now, shedoesn't have any nasal or eye discharge and Delilah is just fine, infact she's being a brat -- thinks she needs all theattention. LOL

Jen

Oh Jen, First Sqeakers, then Abby now Anissa.Ohhhhhhhhhh It could be the pellet change because she was eating thebrand that the girl had for 5 months and the other 2 for like a fewweeks so I think it could be that. She should have let us take a smallamount sowe could have mixed it with our pels that we had athome for them. Also I would say partly is the heat cause SweetPeabarely did much but only ate whenit got cooler at night andmore perkier. I hope her diarrhea firms up by morning for ya so youdon't have to take them to the vet and I hope they don't get sepparatedat all. Poor Anissa and Delilah.

We are praying for you Jen.

Well, I'm beginning to think it might have justbeen a freak occurrence, because she seems fine now. Herpoops seem to be ok, but who knows, at the rate we are going at thishouse, something else will be up tomorrow. :p Sheate some oats and hay and that seemed to do the trick. I'llbe checking her really closely but for now I'm not too worried.

I do have a slight problem though, I can't seem to get all the poopoff. The poor girl is all white and an all white rabbit witha poopy butt is no fun at all. I think I might need to giveher a butt bath, does anyone have shampoo suggestions or anothersuggestion for getting her clean? I tried baby wipes and onlygot so far. I need to do something else for hertomorrow.

Thanks,

Jen and Anissa
