Unfortunately, sometimes a few individuals willassume that an animal who is less than 'perfect'...with health issuesor some disabilities...are automatically suffering and should be putdown. In all the years I have had animals (and I cannot remember a dayin my life when I did not), an animal who was in pain or suffering insome way would let me know. It is in the body language, the eyes...thesoul. I think that sometimes people do not realize this, and mistakenlythink that with a disability comes suffering...sometimes they willbelieve this to be true of humans as well.

I had a friend who owned a dog which had a plethora of health issues.Epilepsy, digestive problems, an eye that had to be removed because ofinfection, ear problems, you name it. Yet this dog lived a wonderfullife because his owner was a true guardian angel. He spent thousands ofdollars to keep his little friend comfortable and as healthy as hecould; he traveled hundreds of miles with him to see specialists of alltypes, to explore the latest in canine treatments, etc. And this manalso taught me something...he never felt the need to justify or explainwhy he did this to anyone who questioned him. I also had a dog likehis, who had epilepsy and digestive problems, etc....and many timespeople would say to me that I was cruel for allowing her to live. Itinvariably always led to me feeling guilty, questioning whether I trulywas being cruel. Yet my friend taught me that the heart of a trueanimal lover never lies...if a pet has health problems, we will walk tothe ends of the earth to help them. And if they are beginning to sufferin any way, we will know what to do, and when to let go for the good ofour little companion.

Rose, you know that there is no need to justify anything that you dofor your sweet little bunnies, not to anyone. Your heart is pure, andit is huge...it is evident every time you look into their eyes and yousee their love for you smiling back. If anyone ever questions it again, simply smile and look at your bunnies...your reasons are in their eyes.

Bless you for giving Pandemonium and Fenwick a chance at lives that they might otherwise not have....filled with love.

Thanks, Di. I know what you mean about guilt from comments like that.

I should know better, though. I know them, after all!!! I held themwhen they were newborn....I fed Pandemonium when she was aruntdying of baby starvation at a week and a half. She justwasn't fast enough to the nipple. I watched Fenwick learn towalk...diagonally....into walls....and Pandemonium climbed up my armand sat on my shoulder like a parakeet at 4 wks. She was my pick of thelitter....actually, she picked me. Chewed up my clothes, pushed mearound, snuggled in my arms, used me as a jungle gym. Fenwick is theBinky King, even if he snorts like a little pig in dry weather.:p

It's just that thosecomments throw one off balance, introduce doubts and so on.

So thanks!

Hi Rose, :)

I saw that movie for the first time with Buck Jones and the Missus theweekend they came to spend Easter with me. Honestly, Ithought it was the best part of the movie. JimD's anotherhuge fan of that scene. Picturing those idiots screaming "RunAway, Run Away..." does make me giggle still.

Hope all is well with you andyours.
