Hello everyone, I have a 3 week old Netherland Dwarf baby, which was acting funny. It kept on turning around and around, running in to the wall of the hutch and just being panicky. Yesterday I felt over his head and he has a "cent sized" hole in his cranium.
Has anyone ever come across anything like this? Could it have anything to do with Dwarfism.
Any help appreciated .Thanks Grit

Most baby mammals have a spot called the Foramen--the skull forms in segemnts and move around somewhat eventually welding together and then overgrowing that spot and filling it in. Not sure how it works with such a short gestation period though.

Rocky has a similar thing at the moment, he is a bit uneasy on his feel and keeps wobbling and falling over like he has no balance.

Best to take him to the vet as there are a number of things it could be and you want to get the bunny the best care as soon as possible

I thought it is called Fontanelle(soft spot in the skull, to allow human babies to pass through the birth canal without damage).
Never heard rabbits having one.
That's why I am wondering is it a genetic defect.

Spinning could be ear mites, or neurological problem. I would check with a Rabbit Savy Vet regarding this.

Hoping the baby is doing all right.

K :)
