I am sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find a specific post that answered my question. Cowboy is 3 months old. I have had him for a month. The breeder told me to feed him unlimited pellets until 5 months old. He is on timothy hay and selective jr pellets. He started having small poops last week and ended up having some watery poop. We started him on gas drops, massaged his tummy and took the pellets away. This fixed the problem and his poop became much larger. We added about 1/8 cup of pellets back to his diet and his poops are getting small again. Should I stop the pellets completely and add some alfalfa hay in with his timothy hay? He loves the pellets. He is drinking normally and eating hay. I don't want to end up where we were last week. Poor guy. TIA!!

Hello, seems like his system does not agree with the pellets or (brand) I would limit the pellets for now. My bunny blue had an issue with one brand that had high calcium in it & it caused him bladder issues to the point he had to get IV fluids to flush his system. Might be how your bunny system operates, no diet is the same you can customize it. You can try mixing alfalfa and Timothy but start to phase out of the alfalfa around 4 months. Then switch to the oxbow Timothy+orchard mix. My bunnies love it & around shedding season I put them on an strict Timothy diet slowly switching out the orchard grass to help their gut adjust. Hope that helps.
