Not so good. Unfortunately whoever cleaned his cage forgot to put hay in, and he went the night without. Not sure how much this would affect the diaherra, but...we found a pool of diaherra about the size of a nickel-quarter, coloured very very dark brown, as well as some watery brownish...

I spoke to soon... This morning there were two small dribbles of 'diaherra'... It looked like brown-ish urine, but had a small amount of "mashed" feces in it... I know, it's gross.

NEW DEVELOPMENT!!! So I took the advice of majorv and added powder form probiotics to my bunny's water. Ever since, there has been no issue with diaherra. Given, it's only been 5 days, but normally there would be lots in that frame of time. Thanks for the suggestion, and we'll go from here...

I think worms/parasites seem the most likely answer... Now to convince my parents it's worth the money... In my area, it's around $50 for the initial examination, $40 for the fecal test, and then who-knows-how-much-else for the worming medication...

I think I already know the answer to these questions, but A) Probiotics wouldn't mask the symptoms of a parasite, correct? Also... B) Would there be any other symptoms associated with a parasite? I'm sure it depends somewhat on the type, but in general? Note: He hasn't lost weight...

Yes. As it is winter here right now, he only occasionally goes out (when the temp is unusually warm). He is generally living outside in the spring and summer.

So...I did try mixing some of the powdered form into his water, but he doesn't seem to want to be drinking it...Any suggestions on ways I could encourage it? Also...Is there danger of feeding too much?

Note: I also wanted to add this... When I am in my room where my rabbit is, he will make these "squeaking" (but not high-pitched noises), and I can hear him grinding his teeth a bit. I'm not sure why this - and can't tell if he's happy or in pain...I don't think he's in pain; he's not...

Does anyone have any experience with rabbit parasites? Perhaps it might be that?

I was considering cecotrophs at one point, but not with the type of material he is passing now. (At one point in time, he was leaving black shiny blobs, which I now believe were just uneaten cecotrophs) His diet: High quality, high fibre (Oxbow Essentials brand) pellets Unlimited timothy...
