Microchip your (or a rescue) rabbit?

Our dog and 7 month old kitten are chipped.....the dog I had done when he got the last of his puppy shots (the rescue didn't chip him) and our kitten was chipped when we adopted him from the shelter. Quil (kitten)'s chip has migrated down to his "upper arm" area (not sure what to call it), but...

    Amy's cats, rabbits, etc!

I posted a few pages back about my MIL moving to Wisconsin and letting us rent her house from her & that she has a roommate that lives in the back master bedroom (has its own entrance and everything)......and about all of the complaining to my MIL that hes been doing - us burning inscents &...

    Ruby's wheezing when she rests....

I can't see any mucus up in her nose, it is only wet a little bit on the outside of her nose. She's doing well & I'm already hearing less wheezing and sneezing since she started the meds Thursday night :).

The Cavies - Shelties (Silkies), Peruvians & Texels

I LOVE the Texels! We have a breeder around here who has Texels and every time I see a picture I just die a little :P.....I am a sucker for rats that have curly hair (called "rexes"), so naturally I am a sucker for curly haired piggies (I just love their cute lips!).

    Amy's cats, rabbits, etc!

Well...the rattie boys are on their way to the rescue. The rescue lady was actually really nice (you never know with rat people) and was concerned about how the local humane society treats the ratties here and is going to make some calls when she gets the chance.

    Amy's cats, rabbits, etc!

Well, the rat rescue lady should be here fairly soon to pick up the 2 rattie boys that I rescued from the local humane society. I'm a bit upset, as I really like these boys....but I can't keep rats anymore - after my 4 boys pass on, I will be taking a VERY long break!

    Hydration - bowl vs. bottle?

Bowls, for sure. I don't think a domesticated animal should have to "work" for their water if they don't have to, but I realize people with a lot of rabbits (rescues, breeders) need to use bottles for sanitary reasons & time-saving reasons. I even offer my rats little bowls of water :).

    Amy's cats, rabbits, etc!

Yesterday I posted in here about a Humane Society bun that was to be PTS today due to urine scald if none of us local bunny people could pull her out...well, none of us could but the bunny got lucky because a shelter staff member pulled her out. Aparently the HS wants not thing to do with...

    Phonebooks- Healthy?

Nope...its perfectly safe! Tons of shelters & rescues use shredded newspaper for bedding because its free. I'd never shred up bills or other documents to give to them because I'm unsure about if that ink is non-toxic, but newspapers & phone books are fine :).

    Help with bonding please

I would just wait until she is spayed - she is still at the age where she can be hormonal and that is probably what is the big issue here. Also, maybe she is too young/bossy for him? My Morgan is 4 years old and his bond mate (just bonded a few months ago) is 1 year old and I sometimes think...

Big age difference and living arrangements?

Sorry no one answered this sooner! I'd wait until she is spayed, since she is still growing and the hormones will come out of her once she hits the teenage stage :).

    Trimming Nails?

I have had to learn that its just gotta be done whether they like it or not (even though it is stressful on bun & human). I have a Holland Lop who breathes so heavy that I think he may just have a heart attack one of these days . Anyway...I just "bunny burrito" them - wrap them up in a...

    Phonebooks- Healthy?

Most (if not all) newspapers & phone books are made with non-toxic ink, so they are safe to give to buns & rats :). I just tear off the front & back cover, as well as any pages that are glossy.

Thanks, but those are Pom mixes and they won't be able to be showed if I wanted to get into it :P. Plus, we aren't ready for another dog right now. ------------- Well...Miss Ruby went to the vet today and is now on meds for a URI :(. The visit fees were supposed to be used on her spay, so now...
