    Sudden Bunny Passing

Unfortunately without a necropsy and with no other signs it's impossible to know what caused his death. Though it's harder on us humans to have no warning, I think it's better for them when they go suddenly and have been eating and enjoying life right up to the last minute.

what can i put on a wound?

You can try some neosporin. Just be sure not to use the kind with the pain relief in it as that's not safe for them to ingest.

New member- no rabbits yet, just questions!

It's definitely doable. I know midwest makes tops for exercise pens, but I've never used one personally. It wouldn't keep the cats out but I know people who have had trouble with rabbits trying to jump out who have had success with just putting a sheet over the pen. I think the visual barrier...

New member- no rabbits yet, just questions!

In general, smaller breeds can jump higher. I wouldn't worry about a one inch gap with an adult bun but I know some people have had trouble with small rabbits squeezing through (or at least trying to) the holes in the bigger grids that now come with most boxes of cube shelving. My rabbits can...

New member- no rabbits yet, just questions!

Hi and welcome to RO! I agree with the recommendation of the largest cage that you can fit in your space. I use a 42 inch dog crate that I've added a shelf to for my pair of buns and they're in there when they're alone or I'm asleep and get to run around when I'm home and awake. The bar...

Is Purina Dog & Flea Powder safe for bunnies?

I've heard that rule of thumb before too (if it's safe for a cat it's probably safe for a rabbit), but fipronil (frontline) is one specific example where that's not true as fipronil can kill a rabbit but can be safe for cats. There are dog products with permethrins in them that are not safe for...

Living alongside a rabbit in your bedroom?

In high school I had a rabbit who got too used to expecting breakfast at 5:45 am and didn't understand the idea of a weekend. I found that if I didn't get up and feed him, he'd dig his litterbox out in protest. With my current rabbits, they get to come out a little bit after I've woken up...

Going to vet for first time questions.

Yup no vaccines for rabbits in the US. It's generally recommended that all pets see the vet 1-2x a year for a wellness check. As far as what's required before a spay, most will want a physical exam although some will be okay doing one same day. Depending on the age of the rabbit, some may...

Living alongside a rabbit in your bedroom?

I live with three other students and their 3 dogs and two cats so my rabbits are confined to my bedroom for their own safety and sanity. They have a 42 inch dog crate that I added a shelf to as their cage and they get free roam of my bedroom whenever I'm home and awake. I blocked their access...

    Is this weird?

Cricket also loves to lick one of my pillows. I do think it's weird, but not something to worry about. http://youtu.be/46y-tSY9Wl0

    Flea/tick prevention for rabbits?

Revolution doesn't do much for ticks either but it is effective against fleas and mites.

    Rabbits and temperature?

60 is within their ideal temperature range and I bet they're loving it!

    Is this food alright?

Do you have access to purchasing hay in larger quantities? Anything that's good for horses should be alright for rabbits although avoid alfalfa (lucerne) for adults and try to pick a grass hay.

    unlitter trained rabbit

Are you saying he won't use the box in the new play area or that following playing there he won't use the box in his cage?

    Cocoa's Puffs

How often do you change her litterbox? Do you think she's drinking and peeing more than usual for her? When did she last see a veterinarian? It definitely sounds like she could use a vet visit. In the meantime, I wouldn't give her any veggies or treats and would focus on the hay to see if...

Risks of Spaying too early?? (Urgent)

Agreed, definitely personal preference on the veterinarian's part. We have a lot of controversial research on when (or even if) to spay/neuter dogs because of a number of health conditions that are tied to either being spayed/neutered or being intact but to my knowledge we don't really have...

    HayHayHay

I don't think there's a neat way to do it. One of my classmates that used to have a house rabbit but knows I'm rabbit obsessed once came into my room and said "oh good, you get hay everywhere too!". I think it just comes with the territory.

Weeping sore eyes in old age - dilemma!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I have pretty spotty internet connection where I am this week. That last picture does look pretty uncomfortable to me. I'd say worse than a mild allergy or something along those lines. If he were my rabbit I'd definitely take him in to the vet. In the...

    Pellets as hay supplement?

What are the ingredients in the pellets? They do make pellets of just hay for horses, etc that would be alright, but when you feed just pellets or hay cubes you're eliminating a lot of the longer stem fiber. Has he had his teeth checked out? Dental issues can make rabbits not want to eat...
