    Gizzy hates his toys

Some bunnies just aren't interested in playing with certain toys. If he enjoys digging and climbing, you could try making him cardboard box castle to explore. Something he can dig in and destroy. You may have to experiment with different toys. Make some digging boxes, some grass mats for...

Diamond isn't going back to her pellets?

She should be fine with a mainly hay diet until you can find some fresh Purina food. The different pellets or the fact that the Purina pellets are on the old side may be putting her off them. I would keep offering them to her, and try to find a fresh bag of Purina as soon as you can. You...

Diamond isn't going back to her pellets?

Putting a rabbit on a hay only diet for a couple of days WILL NOT KILL THEM or be harmful. Rabbits can and will get the nutrients they need from hay for a few days. It is not a recommended long term diet, but I have had my vet suggest it as well as many other knowledgeable members. I have...

Diamond isn't going back to her pellets?

Putting a rabbit on a hay and water diet for a couple of days if they have loose stools is very common. It helps the gut to stabalize if it is a slight bacterial imbalance, and won't hurt if it is another cause like parasites. -Dawn

11 month old Netherland Dwarf with an Eye Issue---HELP PLEASE

You can get some saline eye rinse at a people pharmacy to rinse the grit away. It is normally found where contact cleaning fluids are found, but make sure it is just a plain saline. -Dawn

Diamond isn't going back to her pellets?

If she just won't eat them, then I guess she'll have a diet of hay. She should start eating them once the oats are gone. It may take a week or so as she pouts over the loss of oats, but she should start eating the pellets once she realizes that is all she is going to get. I would also change...

    Newspaper a safe bedding?

Fleece makes a good cage liner. You can often times get fleece baby blankets at a dollar store or cheap fleece at a fabric store and cut it yourself. Just make sure that what ever type of blanket you put down, that they don't eat much of it. You can also use grass mats for bunnies that...

    Need advice with Burnie

I have had good luck with holding the rabbit like they are sitting on my lap. With their bum on my lap and their back against my tummy. I had a bunny that needed the fur trimmed around his legs and bum regularly because he peed sideways after a genital reconstruction surgery. I have a...

Diamond isn't going back to her pellets?

I would stop mixing the oats in the pellets now. If she's just picking them out, then she is just eating what she enjoys the most. You can give the oats as a treat if you want her to continue to enjoy them. -Dawn

Bun not eating as much pellets nowadays...

Was there a particular reason your vet recommended you switch? How old is the bunny and what breed? In my opinion, if a pellet is working well for you then there is no need to switch pellets. You can also always feed a blend of pellets, just mix the two brands together. I personally like...

what brand pellets to u feed ur buns?

I feed a pellet that is made locally by a farm coop. It has 14% protein and about 20% fibre. It comes in a 40 pound bag and lasts my four rabbits about 6 months. I don't think that the brand is particularly important, just that it has the correct nutrition levels. And that you feed in...

I moved this thread over to the Rabbitry and Showroom for you. More breeders will see it here and be able to answer your questions. -Dawn

    post neuter behavior

It can take 4-6 weeks for hormones to fully make their way out of a rabbit's system after a neuter. They can still impregnate a female for several weeks after a neuter as, so they should be kept away from unspayed does for 3-4 weeks after a neuter. You may start seeing behaviour improvements...

    Bunny pooping on me only

As weird as it sounds, I think it's because he likes you. He's marking you and showing everyone that you belong to him. Not sure that there is much you can do until he is old enough to neuter. -Dawn

Adolescent Potty Training: New Home and Just Neutered

If you catch them mid-pee or just as they start, you can make a startling noise to try and get them to stop mid-stream. Picking them up while they are peeing is the only time I would re-locate them. Otherwise they won't understand why you are moving them and they will just get confused (hence...

Wormies- Any idea on type? Very long

Pam says that this could be Baylisascaris procyonis (raccoon roundworms) and that they can also infect humans. According to her, they are rather long and thin. -Dawn

Adolescent Potty Training: New Home and Just Neutered

Hi, And welcome to the forum! I have always had best luck potty training rabbits on a solid floor. I also do not keep any soft materials in the cage until they are fully litter trained. If a mistake is made outside of the litter box, I soak it up with tissue/paper towel and place...

Wormies- Any idea on type? Very long

Hmmm... Like I said, I don't have any first hand experience, just pictures that others have taken. I always thought that a tapeworm was the same across all species. I think the person with some good knowledge would be Pam Nock. I'll see if I can to look at this thread. I guess the...

    snuffles

It sounds like your vet has a good understanding of this illness. And don't worry, injections are quite easy to give once you learn how. I actually find it easier to give a rabbit an injection rather than to get them to take oral medicines. -Dawn

Wormies- Any idea on type? Very long

I think those are tapeworms. Which are transferable to humans and other animals. I think they are the only worm that is that long. I don't have any first hand experience with them, but I remember seeing some pictures that looked the same as yours that where tape worms. -Dawn
