    Herbal blends

Herbal blends can be a great thing to mix into hay to encourage foraging, or to hide in toilet paper tubes or paper bags as something they have to work for. Good for a treat, but shouldn't be over done in my opinion as many herbs have medicinal properties and while safe, it's best not to over do...

    treats!

Lately I've been drying fruits and veg for my two. It turned out pretty good. So far I've dried kiwi fruit, apple, carrot and papaya. All have worked remarkably well, just drying them in the oven on a very low temp for a couple of hours. Keep in mind that once dehydrated the sugar content is...

    changing litter box a lot????

I've had rabbits eat the wood stove pellets :P However in both instances it was when they were first changed to the new litter. I think Bandit tried two, and Apollo tried 3 or 4. Nothing since then though. I don't think they taste too good, but they're perfectly safe to be eaten if bunny happens...

Can someone explain this for me?

^Thumperina has a very good point. Just had a look and those are exactly the sort of hutches that I would never buy. The runs perhaps yes as an exercise area on a lawn or something, but not the hutches. As mentioned in another thread, you would be better off selling the C&C grid cage components...

Will Australian Virus to kill rabbits reach America? (2016 post)

Yes, I'm not sure about the K5 straing, but I do know that RHDV2 does kill young kittens. I know that the original RHDV is in the USA, but it doesn't really spread because the wild cottontails don't spread it (I don't think). So it just kind of crops up every now and then in the pet population...

Can someone explain this for me?

Are the images on pinterest linked to the shop? Or are they separate? If they're linked to your site perhaps they're generating shop views from people simply looking at the image on pinterest? Perhaps it's bots too?

Veggie staples for solitary rabbit prone to gas

I agree with Blue Eyes, cilantro, the lettuce you're feeding are great staples. Mint as suggested as well although I have read that Basil is high in calcium. High calcium and high oxalates are ok, as long as you're not feeding every day. So you could have the swiss chard, and feed it monday...

Will Australian Virus to kill rabbits reach America? (2016 post)

Am I correct in thinking you're talking about the K5 strain? Right now I think we have enough to worry about with RHDV-2 currently spreading rapidly across the country killing without warning. There is debatable proof as to whether the current vaccine available in Australia helps against RHDV-2...

    New Bunnies!

Thank you :) It's been a pretty crazy and exciting time :) Getting new bunnies was a little bit of an emotional roller coaster, but I'm so happy I have them! They really are such a cute pair. Much appreciated for the tip. It's certainly something I will look into. I hadn't considered any...

    New Bunnies!

Thanks so much, yes I never fancied myself into the red-eyed whites either, but Apollo is special somehow :D I don't think he's pure New Zealand, he's a touch small and he has the grey ears and a slight patch on his nose. In regards to female Eclectus, they're reasonably common here. (Or at...

    New Bunnies!

Thanks so much everyone :D It's been wonderful having bunnies again :) It's when a rabbit that would normally have no white on it (a solid or shaded colour rabbit) has white markings. It comes from the vienna gene which is why it's called that. So Luna's white nose mark and a bit under her...

    New Bunnies!

As many of you know I lost Bandit in January this year. After waiting some months to be "ready" to adopt again, I then had to wait longer for financial reasons, followed by the unexpected addition of a stray/rescue parrot. She (the parrot, Dory) was housed temporarily in a cage made from x-pen...

    What breed is this?

I don't see why she can't be flemish giant, or at least part thereof. She still looks quite young and I think 10 pounds is about the right weight for a 6 month old flemmie.

    NIC cubes or similar options?

Update on the Aussie cube situation. For people in South Australia (not sure if other states have this store), Browse In & Save sells boxes of 24 grids for $39. This is much cheaper than Guinea Pigs Australia who have recently jacked up their prices to $39.90 for a box of 16 grids (plus you...

Can someone help me identify these bunnies?

I agree with Rex, short plush fur, curly whiskers. So either Rex or Mini Rex, probably standard Rex as mentioned.

    Hair in carpet

You could try dragging a rubber static brush through the carpet (something like a window squeegee may also work). The rubber tends to drag and ball the hair up so should make it easier to remove if you're having issues.

Selecting a show rabbit... judge this pair?

Does the breeder show her bunnies? How have these two performed on the table? If you're looking for a show rabbit, approach breeders at shows or look up breeders that have been performing well at shows in your area and speak to them about what you're looking for.

    Shop recommends bad food :(

Having mentioned those new Peter's pellets yesterday, I happened to stop in a local pet store today and noticed they had them in. I took photos of the bag so I could record ingredients and nutritional information. They actually seem to be of ok quality although seemed pretty pricey at about $17...

    Shop recommends bad food :(

You were right to trust what you'd learned. It's a very poor quality food and muesli type mixes should be avoided at all costs. They can lead to weight gain, dental disease and other health issues. They also encourage selective feeding as well which just makes things worse. Unfortunately it's...
