    Vent/advice

I completely get it. We were in a similar situation a bunch of years ago when we moved abroad for my husband's job and couldn't bring our beloved bun. I put up signs (see attached poster) around town and got 2 responses -- one from a nice family but without rabbit experience, and another from a...

I’m trying to get my make rabbit to let me pick him up.

My bunny doesn't like to be picked up at all, but she's happy to cozy up next to me. When I have picked her up she avoided me for a while afterward, so I respect her boundaries. I really don't need to pick her up for anything. The only time I have to move her is to take her to the vet. The...

rabbit not eating(she is dying help me)(RIP)

Agree 100%. There's a bunny out there that needs you as much as you need them!

    Broken bond with your bunny

That's great news! The other thing to remember is that some bunny behavior is seasonal. My bunny is much more cuddly during warm weather. When it's cold out she gets kind of hyper and doesn't sit still as much for pets.

Chronic pasteurella? Need advice, I'm lost.

On my vet's advice, I eliminated all treats and reduced my bunny's pellets and fresh greens to the bare minimum. I also started putting a generous amount of hay on top of the wood pellets in her litter box. She eats TONS of hay now - like double what she used to. It eliminated all of her GI...

Testing a slightly modified litter setup

I've also never used pads. I just use the wood pellets with a sprinkling of hay on top.

    Declaring War against my bunnies

Yep, bunnies are born to dig! Maybe @Preitler can advise on how to manage digging that becomes problematic to humans.

Rabbit thinks I’m his mate! How do I stop it?

Before we got my bunny spayed I bought her this 'realistic' plush rabbit toy, which helped to divert her attention. It's so realistic that when people 1st walk into the room they think I have 2 rabbits. Ridley The Rabbit - 11 Inch Realistic Stuffed Animal Plush Bunny - by Tiger Tale Toys...

    Mental/behavioral effects on health

I ran this by my sister who's a behavioral psychologist who's worked with both people and animals. She did think that it could be a behavioral reaction. For example, maybe Haru's figured out that you'll massage her belly in reaction to specific behaviors. To test whether the issue is...

    Mental/behavioral effects on health

Whoaaa. Of course I don't think humans are geniuses or angels. Actually, to your point, @john.thorpe1952, my bunny has me pretty darn well trained at this point. 🙃 I do hope you get to the bottom of whatever is troubling Haru. Keep us posted!

    Mental/behavioral effects on health

I'm no bunny expert, but ... I have trouble wrapping my mind around the idea that a rabbit could develop such a complicated psychological neurosis. A human, for sure! But a rabbit?

Rabbit is peeing outside of litterbox

Ah, I see. That sounds like a good idea. For a while I did have to use multiple litter boxes when my bunny started peeing in new places. Keep us posted.

    Water bowl questions

I think you're overthinking it lol. I just use dish soap and water. Soap is a surfactant. That means it works by surrounding dirt molecules and allowing them to be removed more easily. In the end, after you've washed something you're rinsing away both the contaminants and the soap so there's...

Rabbit is peeing outside of litterbox

I had the same problem with my bunny, which puzzled me endlessly until I figured out that she was peeing with her rump over the edge of the litter box. I solved the problem by replacing her litter box with a taller dish pan and it never happened again. I cut out a rectangle at one end of the...
