    Shedding

When mine shed I pull as much out with my fingers and comb as much out as I can- big tufts usually pull out easily— the fur just lets loose. Brushing would be more gentle— but I have had rabbits get GI stasis/wool block when they molt so I feel like I have to get as much out as possible or they...

Hay got wrapped around my rabbits leg-

Thanks Popsicle for your replies. He seems a lot better now. This whole episode put him under the weather for 3 days- he only wanted to sit facing the back corner of his cage, he was not his enthusiastic self excited about food. But now he is back to normal all excited when I come in the room...

Hay got wrapped around my rabbits leg-

I'll go to the vet but... vets here are really quick to just tell me to put my rabbits too sleep. I'm not sure why, I think its a combination of they think they won't live and they don't care that much about rabbits- I'm in New Zealand and they are pests here and they just released a virus...

Hay got wrapped around my rabbits leg-

Oh no. I hope its not necrosis. Its weird was wrapped around the ankle but the swelling is above the ankle. The foot is swollen too.

Hay got wrapped around my rabbits leg-

There was more than one strand of hay wrapped super tight around my rabbits leg. It was not easy but I got it off and no fur is missing and there is no broken skin. He seemed hungry and exhausted afterwards— if think it was wrapped around like that overnight. I don't think it is broken- I can...

Is water based paint safe for bunnies?

It might be ok but... If it were my bunny I would move to another room. Rabbits are a lot smaller than us. So I think fumes might be worse for them then it is for us. You know how minors used to put a canary in the coal mine- so that if the canary dropped dead they knew to get out? That's...

    Cause of kits born dead?

Sorry its taken a while to respond. I wonder if she they got stuck. My rabbits have usually had all their babies within 1 hour.

    My Stoney

Is she eating? Offer her favorite treat, like a bit of apple or something, and make sure she is at least interested in food and pooing. Rabbits should never go more than 8 hours without drinking and eating. So if she doesn't eat/drink for 8 hours it could mean she is getting sick maybe from...

Has anyone’s bunny had a severe fever?

I don't know but I have never read fever or sudden fever listed for a symptom of e.cuniculi. But dragging legs and paralysis is a symptom. A sudden high fever makes me think it could be an infection somewhere. Maybe since the fever has gone the antibiotic has worked.

Ideas to trim my bunny’s nails

Also I think this is a good video of how to pick up your rabbit. And one thing I've noticed about picking a rabbit up- try to pet and then adjust the rabbit so it head faces toward you before picking up- and don't pick from behind -facing away from you, becuase that triggers their instinct to...

    New Rescue Bunny!

Hopefully your vet is rabbit savvy and gives you the right mite treatment. When I suspected my rabbits might have mites I gave them Revolution for cats - and my Vet told me it was the one to use and gave me the dose. It was drops on the back of the neck and I think I did it twice with 21 days...

Ideas to trim my bunny’s nails

Also, adding... I do put my rabbits on their backs in my lap. But I do it for short amounts of time. If clipping nails usually do one-two paws at a time and then rests the rabbit upright in between. So they don't go into the deep hypnotic sleep. Also, I think you should be able to get your...

Ideas to trim my bunny’s nails

My suggestion is... clip your bunnies nails in a strange place they have never been before. Like go outside and sit in the car and clip their nails. Being in a strange place where they don't know where to run to or where to go— so they tend to sit a lot more still.

    Cause of kits born dead?

If she got pregnant with 4 babies I would have also thought they would have lived. Do you feed a really good quality pellet? I wonder if she could be deficient in some vitamin she needed? With my dwarf rabbits the only time I have had problems is when they only got pregnant with one or two...

    Disease prevention

I'm not sure about supplements but one thing you could do is make sure you are feeding a good quality brand pellet. Here is a good chart that shows you which brands are considered higher quality here. http://www.therabbithouse.com/diet/rabbit-food-comparison.asp And I think it is good to give...

    Upset stomach before molting?

I'm not sure why this is happening when your bunny is molting. But usually, they say if a rabbit has excess night poops (cecotropes) that it means they have too rich of a diet and to try cutting back on pellets (because pellets are rich) and then feed more hay. I know you said you cut back...

    What's Wrong with Jack.

Also, would like to add to what I wrote-- your rabbits eye does not look as bad as my friends rabbit did so if its cherry eye- if may only be in early stages so a good vet might be able to fix it with a simpler treatment.
