Old fashioned ceramic hot water bottle for rabbit cage heating.

I came across this idea quite by chance the other day and thought it might be worth sharing it with members.I actually bought an old fashioned stoneware hot water bottle( see photo) from a local jumble sale and whilelooking online to see what value it had, came across a post forone on sale.the...

Rabbits and black elderberry products advice.

Interesting.I'm not a believer in treatments without evidence of course, but the fact that the plant has been used by native people around the world for generations has to be taken into account, and I don't think anyone sensibly thinks that the plant is a magic solution, simply has a part to...

Rabbits and black elderberry products advice.

I'd just like to ask for opinions on the use of black elderberry products in terms of medications, syrups etc sold for human use in terms of immune boosting and treating congestion and viral infections.of course there's lots of information out there with regard to the feeding of parts of the...

    Feeling lost...

Just one afterthought, which is probably superfuous.Given that rabbits are such inherantly sensitive creatures, regardless of veterinary treatment,a lot of cuddles, soft words and reassurance can work wonders for their moral and their physical condition.I'm sure she isn't short of love...

    Feeling lost...

I cannot add anything to the advice, because those already helping you are absolutely wonderful and more experienced with the medications than I am.I just had to say how much we all admire you for the help you're giving this little soul, and please don't beat yourself up because in incredibly...

    Best hideaways

I usually simply get an appropriate sized cardboard box,cut several entryand exit holes in itand fill half up with scrumpled paper- hours of amusement for minimal cost and when it's been destroyed or soiled, just get another one.Sometimes simplest is best.

    RHDV2 Vaccine concerns

I don't knowif this is any help to you,but my rabbits have both had the nobivac shot thelast couple of years, and have been OK with it.I do fully understand how you feel, because no vaccine is totally safe for all or totally effective for all,and I have also agonised over whether to take the risk...

Rabbits freak out every time I try to hold them!

Just a thought which I've passed on previously a couple of times to people on this subject.one of my rabbits is very easy going regarding handling, the other ,while very good in every other respect, hates to be picked up with his head facing away from your body, and struggles.I tried this once and...

    Bunny pulling out matted fur

For what it' s worth I find that pulling matts apart, not out, works well.Just gently tease the fur apart sideways and keep going until it loosens, then you can usually pull it gently out.

LOST Rabbits! How do I get them back??

One thought-put a shelter up in the garden with a tunnel, plastic or cloth, attached to it.Rabbits love to hide in tunnels, even such things as the sleeves of a jacket on occasion. It may just tempt themin, with the food suggestion previouslty mentioned.

The rabbit who won’t be picked up - being spayed today.

I know this is one of those subjects which always draws many opinions, since of course, each rabbit is an individual ,but I have a suggestion which may be helpful. One of my rabbits,Robbie, is very particular about the way he's picked up ,whereas my female,Freya is pretty tolerant. I learned by...

Is it okay to feed my does black oil sunflower seeds made for birds?

I feed the black sunflower seed kernels as a small treat with their pellets each daybut it's worth remembering that they are oily and while good for the coat and good in Winter, don't give a lot of them as they may contribute to overweight, especially in lazy rabbits whose idea of exercise is to...

    Rabbit in pain when pee-ing

Sorry to hear about your problems. For what it's worth,my personal experiences are as follows.Obviously I don't recommend avoiding vet treatment if absolutely necessary, and such things as bladder stones etc need proper diagnosis, but I have had experience in the use of a home remdy when my rabbits...

Is it a good idea to take a rabbit for walks?

I think you have to be aware of one thing above all when you think about taking a rabbit out and letting it have free exercise outside. The act is,regardless of any other considerations, your rabbit can not only run a lot faster than you can,is potentially easily startled and paniicked, and is...

I just found out about a disease called flystrike how do I protect my bunnies in the summer ?

This is a reply to Kim.I have only just what you wrote and am upset that you feel your question was too much trouble or that my remarks(or anyone else's) were aimed at you.As the person above rightly points out,in my case I was addressing the remarks in a general way to highlight how vital it is...

Bunny passed away, can’t seem to overcome grief and guilt..

I can totally sympathise. The fact that you feel this way shows that you cared a great deal, and that can never be bad.If you made an error of judgement, join the great universal club! Anyone who has cared for animals has made mistakes,it's unfortunate but inevitable and even the best vets can do...

I just found out about a disease called flystrike how do I protect my bunnies in the summer ?

Ordinary unscented baby wipes will do just fine, just avoid anything which might cause irritation, after all it's a sensitive area

I just found out about a disease called flystrike how do I protect my bunnies in the summer ?

I've seen one very bad and a couple of more mild cases of fly strike in my animal keeping experiences.Sadly the bad case resulted in the poor rabbit haing to be put to sleep, and I assisted the vet by holding and comforting it.It was not my rabbit, and I was furious that it had been kept in a...

How much power does a rabbit have?

Not a silly question at.They can be extremely strong when they want to be,particularly when it comes to kicking and jumping, which is why so many people drop them by accident because they haven't taken their strength seriously enough, and relaxed their grip on the rabbit, with sometimes serious...
