Scared out of getting a 2nd rabbit

Thanks for posting this topic and thanks for the comments - I am curious about this topic, and will continue to watch the thread. We have just our single bun at the moment, but we are open possibly to adopting one from a hopefully no kill bunny rescue that would allow exchanges if they do...

    Free Roaming Rabbit Frustrations

This is a great thread, thanks for sharing your experiences! We also do supervised outings, pretty much any time we are home and awake. When we go to sleep, Kimchi goes into her pen (unless one of us in napping on the couch, which is in the room she roams free in). And when we leave for the...

    Bunny-proofing our new place

Ha ha, you guys are funny. Thanks for the replies and feedback! Regarding the cord - it is unplugged always except Thursdays for about 10-12 hours (my workday from home). During that time I am always keeping an eye on her/the cord. I do have some smaller gauge conduit that I can encase it...

    Bunny-proofing our new place

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a few things that we did to bunny-proof our new apartment. The new place is cool, and we're taking advantage of the "blank canvas" that only moving can truly provide. Our new place has laminate (hardwood) floors, so we will be getting a new rug for the...

Leaving Bunny alone for ?# of days

We've decided that we'll leave our bun with a trusted, pet-less friend (or someone who has bunny-friendly pets), or have someone who lives nearby come to our place, whenever we go on vacation. We just got her a few months ago so we haven't been away for more than one overnight trip yet. We...

Rabbit shaking entire body, laying down, hot day

Thanks for that tip about the ceramic tile in the freezer or fridge! I had just mentioned that idea to my wife last night, it is gratifying to see it validated here. :) Good luck, Ivy - I hope your bun is well.

Back after a LONG hiatus... like 10 years!

Ha! I read your old post recently, about the name "Chainsaw"! It was a nice post, as I recall. :) Welcome back! My wife and I are new-ish bun parents, I've been hanging out here to learn as much as I can about our newest (and best!) family member. :)

    New here, new to bunnies!

Your bunny is adorable! Welcome! We are new bun owners as well, this site has been a great resource. We keep our bun in a puppy run type of thing, rather than a cage, so she has lots of room to move around. We open it up and let her run around the living room whenever we are home and able...

Tips for nail clipping, and gender determination?

Thanks for the additional replies. Regarding vaccinations, it was the first thing we asked the vet. They told us that it was not necessary unless our bun would be around livestock. Do I need to press harder for this? Sounds like probably not ... and yes we live in Southern California...

Excellent Bunny Doc for South Bay, Los Angeles

Hello Flemishwhite - I understand that this post is about a year old now (little older in fact), but I wanted to reply nonetheless. My wife and I live in the South Bay (Torrance) and our youngster will need to be spayed fairly soon. I came to this part of the forum and was pleasantly surprised...

Tips for nail clipping, and gender determination?

Thank you very much, RD! I am glad to hear that our squirmy little bun is not that unusual. I guess if I was, as I heard it put once about the octopus, a "perfect, soft ball of protein running around in a dangerous world full of predators with sharp teeth", I would probably resist being held...

    Skirting board protection

We are currently experimenting with a couple of things that I read about elsewhere: the "bitter apple" spray, which is nontoxic but apparently unpleasant tasting, as well as clear packing tape. Not sure if either is appropriate for your situation - I guess it depends on the type of wood, how...

Tips for nail clipping, and gender determination?

Hello everyone, Our little 5-month-old dwarf, Kimchi, is a squirrely little bun. She (he?) does not enjoy being picked up or held - in any position. However, she absolutely hates being on her back, which has made it very difficult for us to determine the gender. We say "she" because our...

    Companions - must-have or optional?

Thanks Blue Eyes, ladysown and Ravenous Dragon for the replies! We've recently figured out how to let her in and out of the pen, without having to pick her up. We now unsnap the little things that hold two of the panels together, and the whole thing swings open like a huge gate. What a...

    Companions - must-have or optional?

Thanks for the replies you guys. Yes we think she is about 5 months now based on what we were told from our friend who gave her to us and the age that the vet estimated during her first visit. And yes we'll love him or her whatever the case may be. Ours is friendly and interacts with us a...

    Companions - must-have or optional?

Hello there! My wife and I are new bunny parents (I am, at least - she had rabbits as a girl), and we're very keen to provide the very best environment for our beloved Kimchi. I have been reading forums and books about rabbits. There is a lot of great information out there, including on...
