To Neuter or To Not Neuter??

No breeder should ever "guarantee" gender, as up until 8 weeks of age, the babies are very young (and small) and mistakes can be easily made. Personally, I am extremely experienced determining gender, and have only made 1 known mistake over the years. However, I never guarantee gender unless the...

    Bonding a Trio

Looking for some insight on bonding a trio! One of my friends has recently purchased two sister Holland Lops from me in hopes of bonding them. They currently live together, and thankfully have shown no signs of aggression / dominance yet, mainly just grooming and laying down together. They were...

    Does anyone recommend? (digestive support)

I recommend them. Great for digestive support, they are made by a trusted brand and are relatively affordable. Thankfully, the bunnies seem to enjoy them as well.

    Bunny vs. Rabbit

Recently somebody corrected me, stating that the size of the pet determines if it is a bunny or a rabbit. Is this true?? I've always used these terms interchangeably. Sorry if it seems like a really dumb question, I am just curious!

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

I bet you are very relieved you did not give her lavender, then! The cold weather could have something to do with does not being as willing to breed. A good rule of thumb is breed when the weather is sunny and their vents are dark pink in color. Being patient for these things to happen is key to...

    Nest box size

For those who cannot make their own from scratch, which brand / type of box on the market do you recommend? This is the best one out there in my opinion :) It IS long, but much better for bigger does to nurse in - but still quite small, I'll have to measure mine, but I believe the 16-in is for...

    Nest box size

It is a hyperlink that should go to this Amazon product: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DX1GDW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_C0BPNCBET4GNNRRC0DQ2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1.

    Nest box size

THIS is a good box that I use, make sure to get the small size. A good rule of thumb is to get a box that is large enough for the doe to do a full 360°, but small enough for the babies not to wander away from each other. I have used this box for kindling does weighing anywhere between 2.5-5.5 lbs.

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

She lives with her sister?? Breeding rabbits should be kept alone as they become hormonal which can lead to aggressiveness. If she has babies, let her raise them alone... I would wait until day 36 post breeding before giving up.

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

Well, those are all things pregnant does do. Had it been 34 days since the last time she had contact with a buck (besides the time you mentioned testing pregnancy)? For future reference, I don't recommend putting the doe back with the buck it is an unreliable method that stresses them both out...

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

Not a proper nest, no. Sometimes they are unsure what to do if it is their first time, but I wouldn't worry too much because natural instincts will kick in. Honestly, I doubt she is pregnant because it would be pretty obvious this far along. But I wouldn't give up yet, she may surprise you...

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

Maybe she ate or moved the pine wood chips?? It sounds like she is using it as a litter box instead. Which is somewhat normal, it shows she is spending time in the nest. I wouldn't touch or move the nest until she has babies. :)

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

She would be really lethargic and preparing for birth this late into her pregnancy. That's a good choice to stay away from lavender unless you *know* she is pregnant and labor should be induced! I would not handle her too often as she needs to be left alone to nest. When was that nest built...

A great organic pellet brand is Modesto Millings, they come in 50# bags for $40!

    Lavender For Overdue Bunnies?

All of my does (Holland Lops, a dwarf breed like Lionheads) kindle consistently on day 30-31 after breeding. Day 33 is considered overdue. You should be able to feel the babies at this point (gently palpate, her belly will feel very tense and you may possibly see / feel kicks too). Lavender...

    Best rugs?

First things first - please don't use fleece (or even blankets depending on the type)! As crazy as it may sound, the friction caused by these can be the underlying cause for sore hocks (besides obesity, for an indoor rabbit). This was the case for my bun. She successfully healed by changing...

What are pedigrees needed for (besides breeding)?

That's an interesting story that I think all breeders can benefit from! It baffles me how somebody could mistake those two colors, but maybe because it was not an experienced breeder. For anyone who is curious - a blue tort and black tort look extremely different at birth, and are easiest to...
