What quantity of pellets do you feed?

Thanks everyone this was helpful. I’m considering cutting down the pellets I feed my buns, they are all less than 5.5lb and get 1/4 cup each (in theory if one doesn’t eat faster than their partner!) spilt in too two portions morning and evening but I’m not sure that they really need that much...

What quantity of pellets do you feed?

Hello I am interested to know how much pellets (if any), you feed your rabbits daily and do you give it in one sitting or more? Also would be helpful to know what size your bun is. I’m particularly interested in small-medium as that is what I have :) Thank you in advance for any info?

    Post neuter care timeline?

I kept mine in a smaller pen for 3-4 days post neuter until they started behaving as normal again. I then made the pen normal size but they did not get to free roam until 1 month post neuter (although this was mostly due to bonding two rabbits rather than a healing thing). I didn’t add anything...

What is your bunny named and why?

My partner named our boys after his favourite sports people, we have Eden after footballer Eden Hazard and Derwin after his favourite American football player. I named the girls Narla after the lion king and Dotty because of her markings (she’s the black and white one in my profile pic).

Reverting from free roaming back to a room.

I think you will find that a lot of the bad habits with the litter and chewing will improve significantly after neutering. When I first attempted to free roam mine I couldn’t leave them for second and they needed my undivided attention or they’d be doing something they shouldn’t. With time and...

Baby bunnies unwell.. should I take them to the vet?

Could you call the vet and ask for advice they may have some idea as to what is going on and advise if they should be seen, especially as it looks like something contagious is going around and babies are not as strong to fight of infections. If one suddenly gets worse rather than better it can...

Anyone else have a rabbit prone to gas?!

Thank you for sharing @Diane R that really gives me hope that it’s not the end of the world. It scared me to death the first time it happened I thought he was dying it’s horrible when they don’t want to eat and also look in pain. I now keep gas drops on hand to help and tummy massage has worked...

    Rabbit carrier

I really like carriers that have a door in the top (mine is pictured) it seems to be easier for the vet to get them out this way rather than reaching in the side. If you have two bunnies I find it useful as the first bunny in the carrier is less likely to escape out the top while you catch the...

Anyone else have a rabbit prone to gas?!

Thank you both I’m wondering if I’ve bought a dodgey pack of veggies or something this week now as he hasn’t really eaten anything new or in abnormally large quantities. His first episode of gas was quite a few months ago now back in March so hopefully if it was something else other than diet it...

Anyone else have a rabbit prone to gas?!

Okay I see what you are saying now all episodes have been after eating veggies so this might be a good starting point. I might try serving smaller portions throughout the day and alternate leaving some out and see if that makes any difference with him.

Anyone else have a rabbit prone to gas?!

I’m going to stop his treats for the time being so he only gets his hay, pellet allowance and green veggies- minus any broccoli and cabbage as they are definitely gassy. Vet seemed happy with his diet and was happy when he examined him that there was nothing causing an issue. If it keeps...

Anyone else have a rabbit prone to gas?!

It seems I have a very gas prone bunny he had an episode on Sunday and then another one last night which resulted in a vet trip this morning after he went 12 hours not wanting to eat. Since going to the vet he is eating again but I have no idea what’s causing it. So my question is if anyone else...

@Blue eyes Thank you that’s really helpful I’m going to purchase some gas drops now this has happened twice so I can be more prepared in case it happens again, the brand of gas drops we have here is called infacol.

Bunny off his food this morning

Turns out it was gas again he had an episode of this before in March. It wasn’t obvious straight away as he looked normal apart from not eating his breakfast but shortly after I made the post he started doing the belly pressing and shifting uncomfortably. Started doing belly massage as that...

Bunny off his food this morning

Hi, I went to feed the bunnies this morning and noticed that Eden didn’t want his pellets but he did run to the front of the cage as normal. I have since tried offering some greens and grass but still no real interest other than sniffing it. I know he was last eating about midnight when I went...

How much square feet should 1/2 rabbits have?

We found that most Rescues in the UK asked potential adopters to provide about 60 square feet for a pair of rabbits. A 6ft by 2ft hutch with a 10ft long run attached :)

    Do you brush your rabbits??

So far he doesn’t seem to hate being brushed but won’t sit still long enough to let me really do it properly. He has since got this funny little moult line right across his face now 😂

    Do you brush your rabbits??

Thanks everyone I did buy a small soft brush to try him with this week so far he was less than amused but will see if he gets used to it. At least his coat is short so I can manage to get the worst off when I stroke him.

    Do you brush your rabbits??

I’m really surprised how much they moult actually I spend a lot of time sweeping or vacuuming fur from the enclosures. Aww yours does look like mine Derwin has a twin brother who gets a little tufty around his rump during a moult but Derwin seems to show it all over his back. I just sat out in...

    Do you brush your rabbits??

Hello I noticed Derwin is moulting at the moment I can see the moult lines in his fur, I was wondering if I should try brushing him. He’s not a long hair breed when it is more of a necessity than a pleasure but does anyone else groom there rabbit and do they enjoy it? Thanks
