REPOST: Bunny Bonding Woes -- HELP

Hilarious... And yet there's some truth to the statement, lol. Rabbits definitely vary in intelligence (and iq) in my experience. Some rabbits quite clearly have lower self-esteem than others.

    RO convention

A great idea in theory, but probably wouldn't pan out as well as hoped. People have work and school to plan around, some people (like me) wouldn't be able to attend for financial reasons unless it was local, plus many of our very active and valued members are minors who would have to sell their...

Bunny's stomach a little stiff after changing pellets?

Simethicone isn't a brand, by the way - it's the active ingredient. If it's a liquid marketed as gas treatment for infants, chances are when you flip the box over to read what's in it, it'll say simethicone. It's a good staple to keep in a "bunny first aid" kit. That said, your bunny does...

Bunny's stomach a little stiff after changing pellets?

If he had a tummy ache, he wouldn't be eating normally. If it makes you feel better, you can give him some simethicone (baby gas drops). Super safe and harmless even if given unnecessarily... and if he is a little gassy from the new pellets, it'll help that pass. In other words, either it...

REPOST: Bunny Bonding Woes -- HELP

It's important to trust your instincts, as every bonding is different and you're the best expert on your own bunnies ;). Try to stay confident even if you have to fake it - bunns pick up on nervous energy from their humans. It sounds like you're doing a good job so far and have sound...

Bunny's stomach a little stiff after changing pellets?

If he's eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally, I wouldn't worry too much :). Did you make the switch gradually? If you didn't because you didn't have enough old pellets for that, it's still prudent to start with a reduced ration of the new pellets (maybe 1/4 of his normal amount...

Nala's tell-all blog! Quad-bonding and more! Nala, Alice, Harley Quinn and Barnaby (aka Big Bunny).

Why must my mornings so often involve the unwelcome discovery of puke? >.> Naturally, I (once again) made this discovery foot-first as I'm quite blind without my glasses and just wanted a glass of ice water before returning to bed. In this regard, rabbits are infinitely superior to cats...

Oh yeah, so we talked to hubby's paternal gma yesterday to see how his dad was doing. It seems he got out of the mental hospital and went to a halfway house instead of back with his mom... Where he ended up smoking crack again after 5+ years of being off it. God. Husband and I are debating...

Bunny passed away, can’t seem to overcome grief and guilt..

We could've had them scattered for free or returned in the default urn (tin) for free. It's also tons cheaper at the place we use if you agree to a sort of group-cremation-ashes-spread-at-pet-cemetary deal, but we always cough up to get individual cremation and ashes returned. Regardless of...

LOL... our bunns have gone through some fugly molts as well, if that's what you mean by 'messed up'... Nala usually molts without bizarrely distinct lines forming, but she's the cactus-butt queen. Barnaby gets pretty cactus-y as well. HQ has had weird, jagged lines down the middle of her face...

Spoke too soon, lol, Harley Quinn has now mastered the art of perching on my shoulder while I'm on the computer :P.

Why does Rabbits Online allow the discussion of rabbit breeding for meat?

Pretty much, if there's one or more rabbits in your possession... or you're thinking about getting one or more rabbits... or you have a 'classroom' rabbit that you want to do better by... or you saw a wild rabbit in the park today... you're welcome on RO. Open arms and all that.

Why does Rabbits Online allow the discussion of rabbit breeding for meat?

It's been like this since before I joined 7+ years ago... it doesn't bother me, though. Humans are omnivores. Most of us eat meat. One way or another, meat comes from cute animals. If someone is going to farm meat (which I guess is technically ranching) to end up on my or someone else's...

Nala is currently perched on my shoulder like a parrot while I sit at the computer and play Runescape with my husband. She's the only rabbit we have that happily does this, whether I'm driving or sitting in a chair.

    Stinks

I've heard of people doing the litterbox that way... that explains why you clean it so frequently. Is that how you've always done it, and if so, has the smell gotten worse recently and that's why you're posting? If that's the case, it could be a medical issue, though I have no clue what it...

Pelletized wood bedding is the best for odor control and you can get a 40 lb bag for $5-8 at feed stores/livestock supply stores, making it far cheaper than anything at a pet store!

    My bunny keeps escaping!

https://www.rabbitsonline.net/threads/help-escape-artist-strikes-again.70701/ ^ been there, done that, lol... 4 month old lionhead escaping a 4 foot tall pen by climbing out! Fortunately, there is a very cheap and effective solution. Get something like posterboard or cardboard and tie it around...

    Is this cage ok?

I've always put screw eyes (2 per end) into the walls to secure the pens to. Using cheap drywall anchors in addition to the screw eyes is optional - will make their hold to the wall much more secure but I've found that anchors are rarely necessary. To use a screw eye, use a very small drill...

I will regret this for at least a week (our cats normally only get dry food and cat treats): Plate of wet food (22 oz can)... Plus five cats... When that plate is empty and their wet-food binge has to end, they will become my worst nightmare.

Man, Alyssa, your posts always make me want to give you a big hug! Sometimes happy, sometimes sad but always a big hug. I've never understood people who look back on high school as the best times of their life, because as I recall, being a teenager can be as traumatic as it can be fun! It...
