Why do bunnies receive the short end of the stick?

Rabbits are still seen as being “disposable” - literally. I read one story yesterday of a bunny being rescued from a trash can outside a pet market here. They obviously bought it, immediately regretted the idea and then dumped him in a bin. Bunny is doing great btw, but that probably happens...

    Young Bunny - Dark Poops

I was going to try all the buns with some oat hay this week, but my supplier has totally run out of both oat and Timothy hay, so they’re on the Burgess packet stuff at the moment. They don’t seem to mind, but the quality is no where near as good. I think we’re feeling the impact of the Suez...

    Young Bunny - Dark Poops

Hi All I have a foster bunny who was rescued 1 month ago. His name is Noah and he is 4.5-5 months old according to the vet. He was extremely underweight when he was found and is filling out nicely, but is still quite thin. I currently feed him unlimited Timothy hay, a bunch of fresh mixed...

    Goodbye Eclipse...

I’m so sorry for your loss, you have all been through an incredibly stressful time. I know it’s probably hard to make sense of it at this point, but you tried your hardest for her ❤️ Best of luck with those little kits, I hope they grow strong and healthy.

How to clean my very picky bunny

He will eat it when he’s hungry, if there is no other available option. Having rescued a couple of bunnies who had most likely never seen hay in their lives and were ravenous, they got stuck in immediately. I am not saying you should starve him, but he’s not going to let himself go on full...

How to clean my very picky bunny

I totally recommend following @Diane R’ s advice. You might feel like you’ll be depriving him of fun, yummy stuff, but he won’t actually miss it and getting his digestion aligned is so important. Hay, hay and more hay.

    Can you kiss your rabbit?

I get cold sores very rarely, but I always air-kiss my buns and rub my cheek on them instead of kissing, just in case I have a cold sore and not noticed it, because I’m completely paranoid about making them sick. I would love to fully snuggle my face in though and kiss their little heads!❣️

    Post-Spay Pen Set-Up

My boy was neutered earlier this week and the first thing he did was run into his hidey house. And the second thing he did was jump on top of it 🙄. He was fine, but I know you need to be more careful with girls. I had put a few items on top of his hidey house in the hope it would stop him...

Is a rabbit right for me?

Firstly, it’s so great that you’re doing your research before making your decision. So many people don’t and then the bunny ends up on the street or in a shelter. I have 2 of my own bunnies and 1 foster boy. They are all rescues and all affectionate in their own way 🥰 My 2 girls love being...

    Fostering

He really was loved, crazy how quickly they can creep into your heart. Today is the first day I’ve not had a good cry about it. Exactly the same thing has happened to another bun today - left in someone’s car port in a cage with a bag of stuff. The poor lady who was left with him has no...

    Red/orange pee ?

You shouldn’t need to be syringe feeding him unless he’s been really unwell and in recovery and not eating enough on his own. The antibiotics might put him off his food temporarily, but if he’s not eating a good amount, it might be a good idea to get a second opinion.

    Sore Hocks Treatment

Aww poor Theo. Good luck at the vet and I hope you can find a solution 💕

    Fostering

Thank you Lizzy. He really was and I miss him hopping up into my lap for a snuggle. Although I now realise that he probably did that because he was suffering 💔. I keep replaying his final moments and hope that he had less of an awareness of what was happening to him than I did. I feel quite...

    Fostering

I called 4 of the vet practices today who have the best bunny vets and either they didn’t have their bunny specialist working (Fridays are a weekend here) or couldn’t see me as quickly as I wanted. The vet I went to successfully treated my other bun for GI stasis, but that too was out of hours...

    Fostering

Awww that’s a lovely thing to do ☺ He (he’s a boy we think) was eating really well yesterday morning, so I was happy with that. But became quite withdrawn late last night and it was an effort to get her to eat anything. My girls were outside, so I thought it may be the stress of that, so I...

    Fostering

She’s a little rascal 😂 she’s worked out she can fit her entire body through the fence panels, so they’re pointless until I have time to fix some cardboard to them. Every time I open the door, she’s ready to escape. 3 times she’s squirmed out, made it all the way to the kitchen last night 😂😍

    Fostering

I won’t lie, from my perspective it’s quite tiring trying to manage work, which is very demanding at the moment and keep the bunny stress to a minimum in this house. I think we’re all quite on edge for different reasons 😂 All the buns need comforting and attention and I spend a lot of time...

    Fostering

Snuggle spot has been established. If I move her off, she hops back up again 😍 Bit concerned about the lack of poops today and she’s not very enthusiastic about hay, but has been eating and drinking regularly, albeit a little and is very active and purring away. Hoping she’s just feeling a...
