Have any of you noticed people act weird towards you because of the COVID-19

There have been many changes since I last commented in this thread -- the state issued a lockdown, and my company has half the employees working from home. Many individuals in service industries have lost their jobs, larger firms & corporations are mandating pay cuts and putting plans in place...

Vacuum Poll! Which vacuum(s) do you use with house rabbits?

My ten-year-old Bissell vacuum is almost dead, so I picked up a new one from the store last week. (It was even advertised as a "pet vacuum," but that's obviously a gimmick and it's just a regular vacuum cleaner.) I was sad to find that the thing completely clogged up with hair and normal vacuum...

    rabbit words?

Nope, just a fan of their music :) Also, I didn't even thing about bags. Nothing draws the rabbits to a person/place more than the crinkle of a bag!

    rabbit words?

My rabbits know: - Treat treat - Cage time - usually their names - Nei (my doe is named "Bose," so I use the Norwegian form of "no" so as to not get her confused) - Uppy - Chip chip When I was working with my doe's litter box habbits, I had her responding well to "good girl litter box treat...

Have any of you noticed people act weird towards you because of the COVID-19

They announced K-12 school closings in my state today (Michigan, USA), so things are getting more panicky. Grocery stores are getting raided, but that's likely more for everyone staying home with kids for the next 3 weeks than the virus.

    Playpen Trouble

Find a way to close the gap. Rabbits love to move things around in their space to their liking. I've found it's easier to change the environment than to change rabbits' behavior :)

    #feelingold

I'm 39. My age is probably why I'm here posting on a discussion board/forum rather than facetweeting on social media. I always enjoyed the ability to read & write full sentences and learn & exchange substantive information, and that just can't be done in 78 characters or whatever. Oh, and the...

Have any of you noticed people act weird towards you because of the COVID-19

I'm in the midwest United States and haven't noticed anything at all. My view is there's nothing I can rationally, physically *do* about the virus at this time and place... other than laugh at some of the headlines and comments I see on the interwebs. I'm certainly not going to hold my breath...

Ever feel bad for your rabbit?

I have one attention-loving rabbit, and one reclusive rabbit. The former's always the center of what's happening in the house and loves people. She seems pretty happy. The shy rabbit, though... I think he's happy, too. I give him space to do what he chooses, and if he doesn't want petting, we...

how to tell if wicker basket is treated

I actually found a display basket of, like, a dozen large willow balls in an antique shop last summer. They looked just like the ones I buy that cost $4-6 each and get destroyed within a few days. I couldn't tell if these willow balls were treated or not (no smell, not shiny, but a bit of dust...

    Colour changing lights!

Animals don't necessarily "see" the same way humans see. I found the site below years ago when researching rabbits and thought it was very interesting. It has many notes about and references to rabbit vision, although it is a tad technical. The upshot is that they see very, very differently...

    Good rabbit books to suggest?

I favor Buseth's Rabbit Behaviour, Health, and Care as a general rabbit book. Personally, I was disappointed with the House Rabbit Handbook, but maybe that's because I had been reading up on rabbits for over a year before I read the book. It seems more oriented towards people who are completely...

    SOS escape artist pls help

Here's my setup before my rabbits were free range. It's a 32" dog xpen (available in 24, 32, & 40" heights; see "BestPet dog pen" on Amazon) that worked well for my non-jumpers. It's rather heavy-duty, so rabbits can't move the panels. The eight panels yield ~28 square feet of area. I placed a...

What temperature home do bunnies like best?

I keep my house around 66-70F in the winter, and both my rabbits seem to like spending time next to the front door, back sliding door, or flopped against a wall that faces outside. I get the impression that my rabbits find the room temperature in here a bit warm and seek out colder spots in the...

    Hay and Treats

I buy hay (and occasionally a few trests) from Small Pet Select. Good prices & quick/free shipping in the US. I get most treats from the local grocery/Wal-Mart type store around here. Not healthy, but they love the generic alfalfa Os. I purchase willow chew items from Binky Bunny. Shipping is...

My rabbit kept bonking my nose and nipped it

I agree with this, except it's usually C for my buns. (They hate people or feet in their running space!) Rabbits usually aren't malicious when nipping; it's just how they communicate with each other. Maybe try to work with him to get him to stop nipping (or at least nip less)?

Why is it so hard prioritizing on what to spend

Keep in mind where you plan to be 5 or 10 years from now -- I still reference my chem & physics books for my job years after graduating. If pharmacy is a degree program that follows university (not sure how it works in your country), you might want those undergrad books to help with grad-level...

Snug a bun diy - help

Maybe you could reach out to 101rabbits and ask her for basic instructions? She lives pretty close to the border, so I'd think she'd ship one to Canada... I just don't know how much shipping would cost.

What Kinds Of Activities Do Ya’ll Do With Your Rabbits?

I got a couple small jumps and tried training mine. You can also have training sessions where they follow your hand/hand commands. (Note: you'll need treats to incentivize them for any training activity.) My rabbits are free range, so sometimes I'll just sit down and groom them. Sometimes they...

My rabbit does NOT like soft things.

Neither of my two rabbits like soft surfaces to lay on. They move or dig out of the way any soft sort of bed thing I've ever gotten them and just want to sit/lay on the hard floor. I don't know why they're this way, but your rabbit doesn't seem weird at all to me :)
