    Can rabbits eat dried papaya?

Our regional cage supplier handles papaya in bulk. I get it from them in 15-pound batches and use it as the main treat for our rabbits. Granted, it is high in sugar; but, the enzymes in it are good for a rabbit's digestive system. The overweight rabbits only get tiny little pieces; the rest...

    New Bunny Owner

You are correct, there are all kinds of conflicting information out there. It is confusing. I'll second the Bunny Lady recommendation. Another source for good advice is the House Rabbit Society. https://rabbit.org/

    Hello, this is Chonker

Your baby is a beauty. Regardless of the breed--this one looks like "mixed breed"--a mellow rabbit makes a wonderful companion. I, too, would like to emphasize, don't hold a rabbit on its back, trancing. It actually stresses them. I'll second the suggestion to watch the Mary Cotter/Amy...

    Oats

The hulled and rolled oats are about as raw and basic as one can get. I get them from the bulk section of our grocery store. Regardless of brand, all hulled and rolled oats ought to be very similar.

    Oats

I give a pinch of uncooked oatmeal to two of our bunnies every morning. To them it is a treat and they enjoy the ritual of waiting to be served. :-) They don't let me forget. :-)

What time do you feed a baby bunny milk?

Right or wrong, we have fed our baby bunnies Kitten Milk Replacer (with a bit of heavy cream added) three times a day. It seemed to work. When the babes got bigger and more robust we cut that back to twice daily until we weaned them.

Why it's important to bunny proof

Treasured Friend, I've ordered a wireless keyboard/mouse combination. Our problem will soon be history. :-)

Why it's important to bunny proof

I've gone to great lengths to bunnyproof the cord between our desktop computer and keyboard. Even so, we have a rascal doe that rises to the challenge, every time. :-) Even though I still armor plate the cord, I have to keep a stack of spare keyboards on hand. (Our computer shop gives me a...

    Flooring Suggestions?

We had a bun that was afraid to venture out of his carpeted home room. We happened to have on hand a number of hallway runners from Costco at $9.99, apiece. So, we laid a trail of three or four of them them over the slippery floors. It didn't take long until the little rascal would...

would my idea work for keeping a bunny cool in hot weather?

A jug of ice will last longer. But... the condensation on it and the might not be worth it. I did that one summer for one of our bucks who seemed to be suffering from the heat. He would snuggle up to it.

Is a rabbit right for me?

You have gotten some great advice. We rescued from a shelter (the ones in the avatar) and it is the best thing that ever happened to us. However... Be prepared for some emotional ups and downs. One of the does we got gave birth to a litter of nine, even though we were told she was spayed...

would my idea work for keeping a bunny cool in hot weather?

Two of our buns live in our air-conditioned quarters and four live in our fairly cool basement. To help the ones in the basement stay cool, in the warm months we run an oscillating floor fan 24/7. The breeze keeps a bit of air moving past those big ears to help dissipate their body heat...

    Rabbits being around pine shavings???

The Rosebud brand of pine shavings I get at farm supply stores sold as horse bedding are kiln dried. They have no pine scent, at all. They are safe for rabbits. The best part of it is, they are inexpensive: $10 for a ten cubic foot bale. They last our six rabbits a long time.

    Safe wood/sticks

Our buns are willow connoisseurs. :-) They won't touch the twigs off some trees; but, they devour every last scrap from others. :-) So, if your buns turn up their noses at willows, don't be discouraged; they might not like that particular flavor. :-) Try another tree somewhere else. We...

    Hay feeders

A simple hay feeder can be made in minutes out of a cardboard box and bamboo skewers. Simply cut a large window in the side of the box, as shown, and slip the skewers into the corrugations. The only tool needed is a sharp knife. We have more elaborate ones made of wood; but, these work just...

    Chewing through Cord Protectors

None of the usual cord protection methods have worked for us. At best, they simply delayed the inevitable. The final straw came when our chewing-est bun, a doe named Blue, serious developed GI problems. After we brought her home from the vet we discovered serious damage to a cord protected...

    GI Stasis Treatment

I'm glad your little babe is getting better. We also have a rabbit with repeated GI episodes and we think we've figured out how to prevent them. Stress seems to be the #1 cause of our doe's problem. We've also learned that she loves the exact routine at the exact same time, every day. For...

should I be worried? Rabbit created hole through bed sheet..

I am having a similar worry, right now. One of our does has been a "chewer" since Day One; so, we've done everything we could think of to protect her from temptations. Little did we realize how determined she is. Just before the weekend she lost her appetite and developed diarrhea; so, we...

Hey everyone! I just can’t get enough of bunny cuteness! Please share a picture of your bunny so people like me can see other bunny cuteness!!

Well, we have cuter shots of them, but at younger ages. :) Here is Pat at ten days old and grooming himself at two weeks. I've taken over 2,000 pictures of him as he has grown up and with him being very photogenic, most of them are cute; but, I don't think you want to see that many. ;-)
