Today, as I was training Ollie, I had an idea of creating a sort of You-Tube style video of harnesses. It would contain information on the following subjects:

- How to properly lead a well trained rabbit.
- How to train a rabbit for the harness.
- How to introduce a new harness to an already trained rabbit.
- What not to do when leading your rabbit.
- Activities on the harness (agility, rabbit hopping etc.)

Would anyone be interested? It wouldn't be sold or anything, just uploaded onto YouTube, but it would take me a good couple of weeks to collect all these videos and such, so I don't want to try it and no one will learn from it.

Rachel.

PS: I just ordered a few of the vest/coat type harnesses, so I will be able to incorporate a few different harnesses into the video.

Alright then, I'll get started on getting some videos and information for the video then. :) Is there anything in particular that you want to know that I haven't mentioned before? I'll do my best to explain it.

Rachel.

Hehe - getting the harness on would be a great start ;) Oh and fitting them properly - I can't figure that out either. Pretty much all the help you can give - I, for one, will happily take in and try out on my buns!

Oh yes, fitting. I knew that there was something missing. A lot of people have been asking me about that, and not many people know the correct way. It should be tight enough that it doesn't flop around, and is holding onto the rabbit's shape, but not to tight that it doesn't move at all. And both straps should be adjusted, not just one, because otherwise the other one will flop around. For a H Style Harness (strap, not vest), as a general guide, I say about two fingers between the rabbit's skin and the harness, not the surface hair. But, as the rabbits are running around, their body position changes and it sometimes will begin to slip, so you may need to tighten it a bit, but no more than a few centimetres or so.

That's just for now. ;) I will explain it much better in the video. Just for if anyone is curious between now and then.

Rachel.

EDIT: If anyone would like, some people may get some pictures/videos of themselves walking their rabbits on a harness, or putting a harness on, or teaching a rabbit to accept a harness etc. and I'll put it in. ;) My email is [email protected] if you have any questions.

Can't wait to see it! I've never been able to get my buns ina harness... they all think they're smarter than me... and so far it's been true. (sigh).

Sounds like a great idea! :)

Grr. Lesson number one in making a video: don't do it on the day after your rabbit didn't get out of his hutch. I had so much trouble even stopping Ollie from running away, I probably only got one useable video, and even that one you can't see very much of what I'm doing in it. It's either the turning left video, or the fitting and putting on a harness video. I'll try again this afternoon when Ollie's not so hyped.

This might take longer than I thought.

Any other ideas for what should be in the video?

Rachel.
