I would have said "hi" in the subject but thats too cliche, lol.

So hello everybody :biggrin2:
I'm 25 years old, and a new owner of a sweet little bun!
I've been wanting a rabbit this year, so I began doing some bunny research. About a month later (this late September) my sister tells me "do you want a free bunny? My friend can get you one from his friend's farm. He's there right now. He'll get a cage for it too and everything."
Stunned at the opportunity of a free bunny, I agreed. So I began to rabbit proof my room and wrote down important notes. My sister's friend also sent pictures of the little bunny. It was white with brown spot markings. I looked up the type of rabbit and found out that was an english spot rabbit, however it's a mix since I found out it's father had a solid orange fur coloring (but the mother was an english spot.)
People thought I was a bit crazy for "getting a free rabbit", saying "its free? So that must mean its sick and its gonna die a week later!". I was pretty convinced that it wasn't sick when I saw pictures and videos of the little bun.

A week later (around October 1st), after rabbit proofing and tons of research, my bunny was delivered to me. (My sister's friend and his roommates took care of it for a week, he wasnt able to deliver it right away because of college.) I let this cutie out into my room, and a few minutes later after sniffing around, it started to do binkies. I knew from then on that this was the bunny for me  I then fed him (but not too much!) and gave him water, and he totally pigged out... he was a hungry little bunny.

It took me awhile think of a name, but once I found out that he was a male, I came up with "Mr. Bun Bun" somehow. The name just stuck.

I also found out that recently (end of October) Mr. Bun Bun's siblings had an unfortunate fate; they passed away since the people at the farm that "took care of them" left those poor bunnies out on a freezing cold night... without giving them an adequate way to keep them warm (these people should have checked the weather and found a way to keep them warm, jeez. :rollseyes)
So my bunny is a lucky one :) I'm I went with this opportunity. If I didnt, he would have met the same unfortunate fate as his siblings.

I know it was a bit of a strange story, but a month later he's a very happy, strong, and healthy bunny, and still does his binkies. He is also quite an escape artist, heh.

Soooo... thats my story!

EDIT: I should also mentioned that he's gotten bigger since he was first delivered to me!

Welcome. Where abouts in Central Jersey are you? I'm in the Mount Holly area. You little one looks a lot like my new foster Josie. If you need any help finding a rabbit savvy vet let me know. And again welcome.

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How To Bond With Your Bunny.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure you will love it here, it's a great place...I also got my rabbit for free from a barn and he is the most amazing bunny ever, I really lucked out.

Your baby is adorable :heartbeat:

Hello and welcome to RO. We had a female bunny, our very first one, and she was named "Commander Bun-Bun" as she was very alpha--stole the name from a "Drew Carey" episode. As to bunny proofing, it took us several tries to manage that, so, good luck.

Thank you for your very nice comments, everyone!

Oh, and I live in Middlesex County, btw.

Also, here is a bigger picture of my bunny:

His mother is an English Spot, however his father I think was a Golden Palomino (?)

What color would you consider my English spot? Chocolate? Golden? Tortoiseshell? Im a bit confused about it.
