Hey guys,

I haven't had my bun for a day yet, and already I'm in love! In noticing its early behaviors, I have two quick questions:

1) The breeder told me to be cautious about giving him wood chews (her reason was because it was a Lionhead). However, I'm more than confident that the wood chews, although colored, are non-toxic and safe, but I just want to be careful.

2) He's been shaking non-stop since arriving here, which I assume is normal, but being that I want to make sure he's happy and healthy, is it okay for a bun to shake so much when he first arrives at a new home? He's moved around a couple of times (even began exploring his pen a bit as I'm typing this!) and does eat here and there, so those factors aren't too much of a concern.

Do you mean sitting there trembling?

Not given wood chews because the breed is lionhead doesn't make any sense to me :p

The shaking could be a concern, but if it is sitting and trembling simply out of fear of new surroundings, probably just needs time to settle in some more. If it's shaking while trying to move around, it could be something else.

Felix is a trembler, always has been. He's quite small so you can see his body moving quite a bit with his breathing, and he's a bit nervous by nature. I was worried about his shaking for a few days, but eventually realised that's just how he is... heh. I'd monitor it and see if it goes away or improves. :)

Hey guys! Just an update. Einstein is doing better this morning! He is not shaking as much, Only shakes when i come near him. But when I just sit there looking at him he wonders around eats his pellets and hay and he is so fascinated with his tunnel!!. I am going to see if I can hold him tonight just for a little bit. So he gets use to me. He is eating, pooping, peeing, and drinking so I assume that's a good sign! Any tips on how I should approach him?

I would start by petting him on his head and the top of his back. That's where most rabbits prefer to be petted. Move your hand toward him from the side so he can see you coming. If he is okay with you petting him, he may bow his head down like he would if you were another rabbit grooming him.
