Ok, I have decided I am going to try and take on the adventure of building my own cage.

Iwant to build 3 cages that are 2 ft. by 2 ft. by 18 inches

I need to know what type of wire I should buy. Like something about 14'guaze wire or something like that... so I just need to know howmany/much things I need?

Wire, J-Clips, Sometype of door, and some way to keep the door shut. Plus, I need that all times 3.

Where do you buy the stuff? Homedepot?

Well, anyhelp you can offer I will take. Thank you!

If you have a local feed store in your area, oftentimes they will have a lot of the proper wire and other suppliesthat you need (esp. floor wire). Or, if you are constructing a cage forindoors, you could attempt something made with the NIC cubes (Walmartand other stores sell them). There was a thread in the forum that waslong-running on different ideas for cages that members had posted thatcould probably give you some ideas if you need them. As well, you canalso order supplies such as J-clips and pliers online at many differentsites - I can't name any off the top of my head right now, but you cangoogle them.

**Doors for wire cages can come premade, and you can also buy theplastic protectors to go around the edges...as well as wire latches forthem...

Hope this helps :)

I get mine at shows. Sometimes thevendors carry it. Otherwise, Klubertanz, KWCages, and otherrabbit vendors sell wire by the roll and by the foot. Ibelieve you have Mini Rex so 16 gauge wire is fine. 14 gaugewire is for heavier breeds or very large cages. It is alsoVERY hard to cut. 16 gauge is perfect for what you want todo. Here is a list of things you will need:

16 gauge, 1" X 2" wire for the sides and roof.

16 gauge, 1" X 1/2" wire for the floor.

3 drop pans (plastic is preferred as they last MUCH longer.)

Regular Pliers

J-Clip pliers

J-Clips

Door Latch

Heavy Duty Wire Cutters

Gloves (youWILL get blisters if you don't wear gloves) I learned the hard way..lol

3 sets of cage legs so you can attach them to stack.

You can makeyourown doors and get plastic guards togo around them. Just make sure the doors areLARGERthan the doorway.

Good Luck...any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks... I am printing out your list of stuff.

For the wire do you just measure 24 long and cut and the 24 deep and cut like that? Or is there a different way?

And what are stacker legs? I do need them to stack so how would I get the drop pans under them plus be able tostack them?

Legs go on the side of thecages andconnect the cage to another. It basically keeps the cage fromfalling off. Also, there are bars that are for the trays tosit on. They connect to the legs. I'll look for agood pic, I think Pam Nock has one.
