I have had my new bunny for about a month, whichI got from someone that knew almost nothing aboutrabbits. He is an 11 month old mini-rex and is the cutest, funniestlittle guy around!

My last two bunnies passed away awhile ago and were my pride and joy,but the husband didn't take too well to them since they were more ofthe lounging around, relaxed bunnies than this one has turned out tobe.I had to do a lot on convincing of the husband on gettingthe new bunny but it has worked out wonderfully and he adores littleCosmo.

I have always been a supporter of spaying/neutering pets. The littleguy came to me fully intact and now I am debating whether or not to gethim neutered. My concerns:

1) He doesn't spray orshow any aggression, even to the indoor-only cat he shares the house with.

2) There are no plans to take him out of his bachelorhood.

3) We love his personality and bunny-dances. He was named after CosmoKramer from Seifeld for a reason! From what I understand, neuteringtends to make a bunny more relaxed.

4) The only symptom he has that confirms he is not neutered is a sweaty stink he gets after running around a lot.

5) He is 11 months old and has gone past the teenager stage and shouldn't have any new traits pop-up at this age.

Any comments? I actually have an appt. next Thursday to get him neutered but am having second thoughts.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

As far as I know, there are no pressing health requirements to have himneutered. Testicular cancer, obviously, but it's notcommon. If he's behaving well, not spraying and such, then Ithink it's just up to you. A lot of times males are neuteredto help correct hormonal issues or because the owner wants to have asecond rabbit with less fighting, etc. However, if you thinkyou might want to get another rabbit in the next few years, go aheadand neuter him. It'll make the bonding process go muchsmoother.
