hey RO members.

My rabbits wont letme hold it upside down ( as in like on its back ) =[
they'll just wrigle and wrigle when i try to put them on their back.
Am i doing osmething wrong? any tips?

thnx

Most buns don't like to be held, so, it can be tricky. You can get some to be held on their backsides. I can with my Holland Lop, he trances out, it's pretty cool.

I would monitor how he acts, if he relaxes well when you do it, I would say keep trying. Otherwise, I'd say hang it up for now if the rabbit is kicking for dear life (or at all as they can break their backs, eek, you don't want that.

Let us know how it's going!:)

hehe thanks =]
I jut tried then.

They absalutly hate it! i mean when my sisiter does it they'e just like oh okay but when i do it they dnt like it... im doing something wrong!! =[ or something i dnt know...

Yeah that happens to me - whenever I try to pick on of them like a baby you know so their on their backs cradled in my arms but they just kick and wave their legs and arms around and they keep catching me on the face Ouch..

I usually only hold them on their backs if I have to clip nails or check something out on their tummy or genitals.

You have to be quite firm, because if they don't feel secure, they'll start to kick and squirm to protect themselves.. it might help if you start by flipping them over with your right hand holding their chest/under their arms and your left hand holding their rear, then flip them to your left side and tuck their head underneath your elbow gently while still holding them firmly. You can also pet their heads to help them 'trance' out of it, but just talk soothingly and make sure you have a firm hold to keep the rabbit secure. If they start to kick and you cannot reposition them on their backs again, try as safely as possible to flip them up to normal position so they don't injure themselves.

Most bunnies hate it though, and it can be quite stressful, so don't be too worried that your bunny hates it! :D

yea thats why i wnt them on their back i need to clip their nails soon.. i hate that time... they wrigl and wrigle and some of their nails are black so i have to see from the bottom which means i have to flip thm on their back side...

well thnx

Like that - im not holding him very tightly just supporting him its rubbish for clipping nails but if u just want to check underneath its a great way - and to check bottoms of feet.

heres another pic - you dont have to hold them tightly im not im just basically balancing him.
