Over 2 years ago my 2nd cat had passed. She was 17. We adopted another cat and she had been from a hoarder home. She would have accidents all over and had been returned 3 times to the rescue. She did okay and had minimal accidents if we kept her in a finished room in the basement but that was no way to live. A friend of mine who lives on a mini farm took her so she could live outside but also have food and shelter. My husband and I decided no more pets.
Last year a wild rabbit made its home next to our yard and would spend a lot of time sitting next to our shed. I really enjoyed seeing this rabbit. We have it hay, vegetables and fruit. Surprisingly it is still around and stayed alive all winter. I do not see it like I did last year. Anyway I just really fell in love with how sweet rabbits are. I started thinking about having a house rabbit. I talked about it from time to time. I thought about what breeds I would prefer (although I would have been fine with a rescue). One weekend about a month ago my husband said I could get a rabbit. So I looked into where I could get my desired rabbit in my state. My husband was on board but said if it made our house smell we could not keep it. We have only had her 2 days. My husband enjoyed petting her and seeing the kids interact with Lucy.
