Hi. I own a new zealand white, Daphney (tho sheanswers to kitty)who stays mostly outdoors. I was wonderingif it would be wise to put sunblock on her ears to prevent burn. Hercage is completely covered and in shade but I just want to be extracareful considering my first rabbit ( that i had when i was in hawaii)died from complications. And if sunblock is in order whatspf? Oh, and one other question, how easy is it to littlertrain? thank you.

If the rabbit is in the shade, then it's protected from the sun. Keep it out of the sun to avoid sunburn/heat stroke.

You should read the first post on the board: "Cooling your Rabbit in the summer months" and go from there.

Also, there's post by 'rabbits' entitled "Litterbox training". It maybe back a page or two, but it has a lot of information about litterboxtraining.

I too have a white rabbit. I've never had aproblem with sunburn on his ears. Apollo is usually not out in the sunfor long periods. As long as she is in the shade she should be okay.Carolyn is right as usual. TheCooling Rabbits post is full of greatinformation and tips.

As Carolyn mentioned, a rabbit shouldn't be in the sun enough to get burned.

I did have to use sun screen on our horses with white faces, because they *would* burn.

as carolyn mentioned i would be more concerend about heat stroke than sunburn.

my bun is a house bunny but because we live on the third floor and inthe dessert it gets toasty! so i freeze bottles of water and wrap themin a cloth to keep her cool.

Thanks for your help. I also have horses andgoats and pigs so it just occoured to me that my rabbit might needblock too. AS for heat stroke, I'm not tooconcerned about it because I have a fan blowing under the cage mosttimes and I live in the middle of Missouri so heat really isn't afactor, just humidity. Thanks again.
